A full panel returns for the first time this year in the latest Press Row Podcast with the focus of the show on the year ahead. Will there be a shakeup in the way games are distributed or designed? What sports game has the most on the line and which one is in the sturdiest position? Will there be any surprise games from independent developers? What will the fate be for NBA Live and PGA Tour? All those topics and more are tackled in this episode.

SCEA held the first of several planned live streams of MLB 15: The Show earlier today. With all of the primary improvements and additions for the game already revealed in the full features list the company can spend time showcasing and expanding upon them in this manner.
Today’s stream was focused on gameplay, acting as the first opportunity to see MLB 15 in action while demonstrating many of the enhancements to expect from the product. That includes some talk about graphics, directional hitting, pitch recognition, new animations, tag plays, and much more. Check it out in its entirety below and leave any thoughts in the comments!
The 21st and final roster update for Madden NFL 15 is available now on all systems. This update follows the completion of the season with the Patriots winning the Super Bowl over the Seahawks in dramatic fashion. Check out all the changes made in the new roster with the spreadsheet here.
It’s not only the two Super Bowl teams altered in this update however. Some late changes have been made for various players across the league as well. Tom Brady finishes the year rated 99 along with J.J. Watt and Richard Sherman.
Notables from New England and Seattle on the rise include Brady (+1 to 99), Darrelle Revis (+1 to 98), Michael Bennett (+2 to 96), Kam Chancellor (+1 to 95), Julian Edelman (+2 to 91), Russell Wilson (+2 to 91), Bobby Wagner (+1 to 91), Jamie Collins (+1 to 90), Jeremy Lane (+2 to 80), Malcolm Butler (+7 to 77), and Chris Matthews (+8 to 76). Jermaine Kearse also had his Spectacular Catch rating bumped to 96. On the other end very few players were penalized in ratings due to their Super Bowl performances.
Earlier this week the first pre-order incentives were listed for MLB 15: The Show and today SCEA has announced a special edition of the game. For $70 the 10th Anniversary Edition of MLB 15: The Show on PS4 will include:
♦10th Anniversary Steelbook and Exclusive Cover
♦12,000 in “Stubs” ($10 value)
♦15 Bonus Item Packs ($15 value)
♦30 MLB team Dynamic Themes ($3.49 value each)
♦MLB 15: The Show Dynamic Theme ($3.49 value)
“Stubs” is the universal currency used throughout the game while the “Bonus Item Packs” would seem likely to do with Diamond Dynasty mode. The 10th Anniversary Edition will be available to purchase both through retail and digitally from the PlayStation Store. $10 extra is a fair ask for about $32 in value. Amazon has it listed for pre-order now.
EA Sports may may never be able to recapture the dominating presence they once had in golf games. The Tiger Woods series hemorrhaged sales ever since Woods’ image became tarnished and his inability to get back on top of the golf world prevented that from being overcome even years later. The quality of the product however was steady with the last release, Tiger 14, considered to be one of the best in the series’ history.
Now though there’s a distinct sense of conflict for the series that will be known as EA Sports PGA Tour going forward. After a disastrous E3 reveal, which created the perception that the upcoming game would be more “arcade” than “sim”, the company went completely silent. Eight months have now passed and not another word has been spoken about it. Now the game’s release has been pushed back likely to June which could even bring into question whether The Masters will remain in the product. Read more
Both Amazon and Gamestop have added pre-order incentives to their listings of MLB 15: The Show. The two retailers are offering a free DualShock 4 MLB controller skin. The code will be provided with the game and then entered through the SkinIt website. All the designs (and there are a lot) can be checked out in advance here. It’s a quality product and $15 value.
Bonuses in recent years for The Show have depended on retailer and included “Universal in-game currency” or DualShock controller MLB skin (MLB 14), Road to the Show “points” or Diamond Dynasty budget increase (MLB 13), while nothing extra was provided with MLB 12. So this would be the second year in a row with an opportunity to get a controller skin and there’s still the possibility retailers will end up with something else unique to offer.
Gamestop, exclusively at least for now, will also include “6 Bonus Item Packs”. It’s unclear what those will feature or how exactly they’ll apply within MLB 15. The team-building, card-collecting mode Diamond Dynasty is the best bet.
The incentives are only available with the PS4 version of the game. There are no bonuses listed currently for the PS3 and Vita versions. It would seem unlikely they’ll have one given that they’re already going out at discounted prices. The PS3 version is $40 and Vita $20.
SCEA expanded upon the initial feature announcements for MLB 15: The Show with a complete list of additions and improvements last week. In an earlier poll respondents cited the improvements to graphics and loading times as the most anticipated aspects of the upcoming game. That may be different now that much more is known about the product.
Vote in the poll (up to three options) and leave your thoughts in the comments – what new feature or improvement are you most looking forward to?
