MLB 15: The Show Stream on Diamond Dynasty, Equipment, and Universal Rewards
Earlier this week SCEA released additional information on the licensed equipment, profile rewards, and legends coming to MLB 15: The Show. In a live stream held earlier today the former two subjects were covered in even greater detail while also going into the changes coming to Diamond Dynasty mode for the first time.

Your Thoughts on Legends in MLB 15
Back in December a poll was posted to gauge interest in the features announced at the time for MLB 15: The Show. The option that received by far the weakest support – only 2% of the vote – was the addition of 30 “legends” to the game.
Limiting it to one representative from each franchise meant there would probably be some level of dissatisfaction about who was selected. In future years when more are added that should subside. While most teams have a a true “legend” there are handful that need a very liberal definition of the term to qualify them in that class. Check out the full list here.
With it now better understood how the “legends” will be integrated in the product, and with the 30 players identified, interest levels may have changed. Vote in the poll below and leave your thoughts in the comments – what does the addition of these “legends” mean to you?

A Look at Manager-Only Mode in OOTP 16
A new developer blog went up today for Out of the Park Baseball 16 that goes over Manager-Only Mode which is one of the new features for the game. It’s one of three new ways to play the game along with GM-Only and GM+Manager.
OOTP 16…adds a Manager-Only mode that lets you focus on whipping the players into shape while your GM deals with prima donnas who demand contract extensions, trades a hapless overachiever in his contract year for a couple prospects, and handles all those other things you don’t feel like mucking around with.
Out of the Park Baseball will for the first time feature MLB.com and MiLB licensing. There’s still an opportunity to get in on the pre-order deal which runs through February 15. Pre-orders placed prior to then will receive the game three days early for $35 instead of the retail $40 and also be entered into a sweepstakes.

Rugby 15 Nearing Release However Reviews Suggest Best to Avoid New Series
Though it doesn’t have a following in North America there is one sports game due out this month. Rugby 15 is set to release February 24 on PS4, Xbox One, and PS3. Amazon has it listed for $50 (PS4/XB1) and $40 (PS3) but is also including a $10 promotional credit with pre-orders.
Rugby 15 comes from developer HB Studios whose most recent effort is The Golf Club – released last year and still being actively worked on. Rugby is published by Maximum Games, which it appears will also be handling the retail release of The Golf Club.
HB Studios in the past was a developer for EA Sports assigned to secondary (older or lower priority) platforms for games like Madden, NBA Live, and Tiger Woods. Those were produced for the likes of PS2, Wii, PSP, and Vita.
In terms of rugby most recently HB Studios developed the mobile game HB Rugby: Fixture Challenge in 2011. They have a richer history working with the sport on consoles however developing rugby games from 2003-07 that were published by EA Sports and Rugby World Cup 2011 under publisher 505 Games.
Rugby 15 has already released in overseas markets to extremely poor reviews. IGN has given it 2/10 and Games Radar 1/5. The PC version through Steam currently has 39 user reviews with an average score of 5/10.
So it’s probably not a game anyone should consider but it’s interesting to follow anyway. One of the most popular sports worldwide doesn’t really have a video game presence, with Rugby 15 the first attempt at one on the new generation of consoles. The developers have essentially positioned this game as a starting point for the series they’ll be working on for years to come.

SCEA today released a new look at licensed equipment, Universal Rewards, and legends that will be included for the first time in MLB 15: The Show. The video includes a flash of the 30 legends that will be featured in in the game following the preview of the different licensed equipment and new items that can be earned for Universal Profiles for use in various modes. Read more

MLB 15: The Show Feature Interest Levels Haven’t Really Changed Since December
With SCEA having expanded upon the announced features for MLB 15: The Show with a complete list, and having hosted the first live stream for the game, a poll was posted last week to gauge levels of interest in the improvements and additions that have been detailed to date. It turns out very little has changed since mid-December when the first poll was posted. Voters were able to select up to three options to get a better picture of how the features are being received in relation to each other. Read more

RBI Baseball Returning for Another Year
RBI Baseball 14 was inarguably the worst sports game released last year. Essentially a mobile game ported to the PS4 and Xbox One it was overpriced, lacked necessary features like stat tracking, and even post-release support promises like the addition of online play were never fulfilled. The game was greeted by horrific reviews and shunned by consumers.
Today MLBAM announced RBI Baseball 15. Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs is being called the “cover athlete” for the digital-only game which will have no physical cover and Pedro Martinez is considered the other “featured athlete”.
RBI 15 will include stat tracking, expanded rosters, authentic ballparks, online play, and three difficulty levels. Essentially all the features consumers expected to be in last year. The game will be available this spring on PS4, Xbox One, iOS, Android, PC and Mac.
