After months of speculation revolving around Joe Montana Football 16, and more recently faulty rumors backed by questionable motivations, an image provided by the game’s namesake on Twitter has seemingly cleared up one of the major questions about the upcoming product: it won’t carry with it any NFL licensing. Read more
The “season premiere” of the Press Row Hangout was held live late last night. The episode was intended to clear the deck for the upcoming release of MLB 15: The Show, Out of the Park Baseball 16, and other news to come as the crop of yearly sports games near their respective promotion schedules.
Topics include the significant changes to FIFA 15 Ultimate Team mode, EA Sports teasing the start of promotion for PGA Tour, the upcoming Forza Furious 7, rumors regarding Joe Montana Football 16, thoughts on The Show with just two weeks until release, NBA 2K14 servers being shut down at the end of the month, and what teams have benefited or been hurt the most for Madden NFL 16 by the moves made in the offseason so far.
Watch the show in its entirety here or in the clips broken out by segment. Three are posted here today and some others will go up later in the week. The broadcast, along with more new material, will be presented as the Press Row Podcast on Friday as well. Read more
In a case of incredibly unfortunate timing, considering the EA PGA Tour news this morning, at practically the same moment that news broke HB Studios announced that The Golf Club will be getting a retail release on April 28. Actually, we’re left to assume that and find the listings on retail sites, since the press release from the company didn’t specify much of anything about the product including how it will differentiate itself from the digital versions.
The Golf Club Collector’s Edition will be out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 28 and at a price of $40 if retail sites are to be believed. The Golf Club originally released on XB1, PS4 and PC last August for $35 but was available only as a digital download. The planned retail release was discovered in January when GameFly listed it and for the same April 28 date.
The “Collector’s Edition” will include all the feature updates that have been made for the game to-date as well as the “Season Mode” (Career) which is still being worked on and expected to roll out to those who have the game digitally in May. Unlike previous updates that one will not be free to digital owners though a price yet to be determined.
EA Sports today announced Rory McIlroy is taking over as the face of the PGA Tour franchise. The series, which dumped Tiger Woods before taking its year off to develop for the new consoles, will now be named Rory McIlory PGA Tour.
McIlroy has been on the cover of the series before, Tiger Woods 11, where he shared it with Woods. Check out screenshots and the official cover art in the FB album. Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will release in June.
This will be the first EA Sports title to use the Frostbite Engine. The tools allow for the development team to create “beautiful new environments, featuring the most detailed courses in franchise history”. It also eliminates load times between holes.

Though the individual features may not necessarily be generating excitement fans of the series are clearly anticipating the upcoming MLB 15: The Show. The results of the poll posted last week showed high levels of commitment to purchasing the game with relative few still on the fence. The Show is probably the steadiest of all the sports video game franchises with sales that don’t fluctuate much year-to-year so this shouldn’t come as a surprise.
48% of respondents declared that they are “Definitely Buying” while 31% are going to pass on the game (22% “Not Interested, 9% because they don’t have a PlayStation system). 9% of people are “Leaning Towards Buying” and 6% “Leaning Against”. Only 6% feel as though they are truly undecided with just over two weeks until the game comes out.
SCEA has followed in the footsteps of EA Sports and 2K Sports in holding multiple live streams dedicated to specific aspects of the product along with pure gameplay. Features like save migration from MLB 14 could also be selling some on buying the new edition. Those who invested time in the game last year may want to take advantage of not needing to restart their progress in Franchise and Road to the Show.
