With the start of the MLB season now just a couple days away I ran a full simulation in Out of the Park Baseball 16. The results were definitely interesting, with some things playing out in a manner many expect and others acting as surprises. The World Series winner is the latter with the Chicago Cubs capturing their first crown since 1908. Check out the notable trades, injuries, suspensions, milestones, All-Stars, league leaders, regular season standings, playoff results, and year-end awards in the piece put together for Sporting News today!

Expectations for MLB 15: The Show were high heading into release, and justifiably so, as the series is arguably the most consistent in all of sports gaming. It was easy to anticipate what would be great about the game and know what likely wouldn’t be up to par. That allows for a high level of confidence in buying from those interested in the product.

For the most part those expectations have been precisely met. MLB 15 is a fantastic game that has improved on its strengths but done little with its weaknesses.  Read more

  • New Edition of Tap Sports Baseball Now Available on Mobile
    by
Posted April 2nd, 2015 at 11:45 am No Comments »

    tapsportsbaseball2015

Undoubtedly one of the best sports games for mobile devices last year was Tap Sports Baseball. Not only was it true to the sport on the field but it was designed in such a manner worthy of recognition when compared to the models utilized by many other mobile games. Check out my write-up on it here.

Now a brand new edition of the game has released. The downside is that it requires starting over. That’s something console gamers are accustomed to but mobile gamers may be less comfortable with from a free game that they invested time and potentially money in over the last seven months. The original Tap Sports Baseball was supported in impressive fashion with several updates having been made that improved the game and provided additional features.

Now with Tap Sports Baseball 2015 improvements include enhanced graphics, better leagues and tournaments, competitive events, 11 divisions for progression, and “Prime Players” – specially rated to represent when they were in the prime of their career. Download TSB 2015 for iOS devices through iTunes and for Android devices through Google Play.

Another panel discussion on MLB 15: The Show impressions is scheduled for tonight at 11ET/8PT. As usual, those who can’t make it for the live recording of the Press Row Hangout will be able to watch the archived video at any point after the show comes to an end.

The Day One Press Row Hangout went for over an hour and it still only scratched the surface of what the game has to offer. Opinions on the game are still being formed and assessments of new features continue. We’ll be breaking down some of them in more detail in this second hangout. Written impressions of the game will be going up on the site tomorrow and Friday and a Hits & Misses review on Monday.

Here’s a collection of captured gameplay videos and walkthroughs I’ve put together so far with MLB 15: The Show. On the gameplay videos make sure to change the quality setting to 1080p60fps. Included is a dramatic Road to the Show appearance, a full game played in Postseason Mode, the opening of the 15 bonus packs from the Anniversary Edition, how to get that bonus content if you bought the game digitally, and an example of trouble being experienced online. Make sure to also check out the opening night live stream and last night’s Press Row Hangout – with another one planned for tonight!  Read more

  • Details on Latest Patch for NBA 2K15 Finally Released Following Arrival on Xbox One
    by
    Posted April 1st, 2015 at 11:45 am 8 Comments »

    nba2k151201a

A third post-release patch for NBA 2K15 went out three weeks ago on PlayStation 4 and PC. Today it finally made it to Xbox One after what may have been a failed certification which caused the delay, though 2K Sports would not comment on its status over the three week period.

All that had been previously identified from the patch was a fix so shoes could be applied to MyPlayer characters and a change to shooting percentages. The precise details of the update were being held back until it had reached all platforms. Response to the patch has been mixed with some feeling it has ruined shooting in the game by making it far too easy, while others have expressed appreciation at the reward that comes with taking open shots.
