This morning brought the first patch for MLB 15: The Show and it appears to address many of the concerns people had with the game in the weeks since its release. That includes fixes to the BB/HBP bug online and the effectiveness of bunting, both of which were ruining the online experience for many. Continue on to check out the complete details on the patch! Given that the return of RBI Baseball was a much better fit on mobile than consoles last year it was a surprise early this month when MLB Opening Day rolled around yet the new edition was not out for iOS and Android. Instead the overpriced and underwhelming (hey, a 45 Metacritic is better than last year’s 23!) Xbox One and PS4 versions were released in time for the season.
Today RBI Baseball 2015 finally arrived for iOS devices and presumably Android is close behind. The game goes for $5 on mobile compared to $20 on consoles. The main feature missing from what is available with the console version is Online Play, but that feature has proven to be worthless there because no one is buying the game. The value then is much better on mobile given they’re basically the same game on both.

The MLB: The Show series is widely recognized for all it does well but its faults or lack of advancement in certain areas seem to be wearing on many people. That has definitely been seen in the Metacritic scores this year but the sentiment isn’t isolated to just reviewers.
A poll was posted last week to gauge the temperature surrounding MLB 15: The Show after having been out for two weeks and the results, which came from over 4,200 respondents, are somewhat surprising. Read more
EA Sports UFC has finally made it out for iOS and Android devices. The game was initially offered in a few select regions two months ago and has now reached North America and others. That’s been the M.O. for the company on mobile, offering games first almost as a betas in a few places before rolling it out worldwide.
User reviews have been mixed but trended positive based on impressive graphics and fun gameplay. The main complaints seem to relate to the controls, the inability to kick (!), technical issues where saves are deleted, and the monetization structure. Read more
Beginning Friday afternoon (3ET/12PT) and running through Sunday (ending at 3AM ET/12AM PT Monday morning) NBA 2K15 will be playable for free on Xbox One. This will require downloading the full game which is 47GB. Similar to how things work with EA Access, the copy of NBA 2K15 will expire, but saves will be tied to the console for those who choose to buy the game later and continue with them.
Microsoft is also advertising a “deal” on the NBA 2K15 Bundle for the weekend which includes 15,000 VC ($4 worth) for $39. After the game was available to buy for $11 three weeks ago though, and even dropped for periods of time to $30 over four months ago, this really isn’t a deal at all. What may be of interest however is that there will be a sale on VC for 33% off the entire weekend on Xbox One only.
With 2K Sports practically giving the game away at the end of March promotions like this one in the coming months make sense. The company is trying to draw in new consumers, who probably wouldn’t have bought the game at this point in the year, and then get them on the hook spending money on digital currency.
The second in-season roster update arrived today for MLB 15: The Show and it delivers the most hyped prospect in years to the game. Chicago Cubs’ 3B Kris Bryant has been added to MLB 15Â in the roster update and given an 81 Overall Rating with ‘A’ Potential.
Not far behind him however is Yasmany Tomas, outfielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who gets a 79 Overall Rating with ‘A’ Potential. Check out all the player additions and changes to rosters in this week’s update. Read more
