A new patch went out today for Madden NFL 15 that includes likeness updates to Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota. Naturally many would wonder why mention is being made of players that are not in the game, and presumably would not be until Madden 16 rolls around.
Though EA Sports has not confirmed it the answer is likely related to Ultimate Team. Expect cards for Winston and Mariota to be introduced as early as Thursday evening once their names are called at the NFL Draft.
The question then becomes why other incoming rookies were not mentioned. In past years EA has added anywhere from 10 to 40 rookies to Ultimate Team once they were officially drafted. It’s unclear if more will be involved or whether this year it’s limited to the top two quarterbacks in the field. It could also be that those two actually visited the studio and were scanned while others have not gone through that process yet.
The retail release of The Golf Club arrives tomorrow for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. That includes the game that initially came out last August, all the free upgrades provided since, and the spring DLCÂ which features the new Season (Career)Â Mode and Tropical Theme.
Those who already own the game on PC through Steam can get the “Collector’s Edition Upgrade” now for $10 on its own – otherwise it comes as part of the $40 CE package.
The new downloadable content will not be out for the consoles until mid-May however as it must go through the lengthy first party certification process.
The new roster update for MLB 15: The Show went out today and while it won’t have the hype of last week’s with Kris Bryant and Yasmany Tomas there are a few highly touted player additions this time around as well.
Cubs second baseman Addison Russell ties Tomas as the second highest rated rookie this season at 79 Overall behind only Bryant. Meanwhile on the south side of town the White Sox now have reliever Carlos Rodon who has an ‘A’ in Potential. Read more

With the news yesterday regarding Spike Lee’s role with NBA 2K16 being related to the MyCareer, Rich Grisham and I got together to discuss reactions and potential ramifications. How could 2K16 benefit from Lee’s influence and what might that mean for the mode?
There is finally an official release date for Rory McIlroy PGA Tour after EA Sports initially slated it for Q1 2015 (April-June). The game has been pushed back into summer and will fall on July 14 for Xbox One and PS4.
Fans of the NCAA Football series will recognize that as the date it would have released had it not been cancelled. It’ll have a six week cushion before Madden NFL 16 on August 25 and then other league-licensed sports games that follow in September and October. Those with EA Access on XB1 will get six hours of playtime beginning on July 9. Read more
In March the New York Post mentioned that Spike Lee was in San Francisco working on an NBA video game-related project, which obviously meant it was NBA 2K16, and now Polygon is reporting more on his involvement.
The official tagline for 2K16 is “Be the Story” and “A Spike Lee Joint” apparently will appear on the cover. The latter is at least preferable to whoever put together the soundtrack being promoted there. Lee is working with 2K on MyCareer Mode which seems like a natural fit to become even more like playing through a movie. Read more
