There couldn’t have been much worse timing for EA Sports to make their first FIFA 16 related announcement, but that’s what happened today. With the world’s focus on the corruption charges levied by the United States against several FIFA officials the spotlight is on the organization right now in an unprecedented manner for all the wrong reasons.
Still it’s business as usual for EA Sports even as most FIFA sponsors attempt to shield themselves from the fallout – and that’s following several ending their deals with the organization in recent months. Pressed into the first reveal considering the Women’s World Cup is just over a week away from starting, the company announced that 12 Women’s National Teams will be included in the game which will release on September 22. Read more
When discussion arises regarding the greatest teams in the history of the NBA, the two that generally get the most support are the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls and the 1985-86 Boston Celtics.
So, what if these teams were able to face-off in a seven game series? It’s possible only by using NBA 2K15. With that in mind a series simulation was arranged and played out to maybe a surprising, but undoubtedly definitive result.
Check out the complete simulation which went up on Sporting News today. It includes highlights, individual game breakdowns, statistics, and series analysis!
Metalhead Software, the developer behind Super Mega Baseball, which surprised many last December as one of the best sports games of the year, announced today that the game will be coming to Xbox One and Steam this summer. It had been exclusive to PS4 and PS3.
The game will go by the new name of Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings. It will include new content such as stadiums, enhanced gameplay, and improved simulation elements. Read more
The May 25th roster update to MLB 15: The Show is out and it’s brought with it the latest shake-up to Diamond Dynasty Mode. With the addition of the ‘Baller’ and ‘Prime Time Player’ packs and now this new roster update it’s been a hectic week in the world of the virtual player marketplace and the team-building that goes along with it.
Some of the bigger changes in this update have to do with players moving in and out of Team Collections. Russell Martin (up 3 to 86)Â has left the Blue Jays Collection, while Edwin EncarnaciĂłn has entered it by dropping from 86 to 84 overall. Dee Gordon continues his hot streak and moves out of the Marlins Collection with his jump from an 86 to an 89. Read more
2K Sports announced today that NBA 2K16 will release on Tuesday, September 29. However those that pre-order the game will get it on Friday, September 25.
Interestingly with the release date moved up into September that appears to represent a change in the latest licensing contract with the league which begins this year with 2K and EA Sports. Traditionally the NBA has restricted games from going out prior to the first Tuesday in October.
In addition to getting the game earlier the pre-order incentive includes 10K in Virtual Currency and three MyTeam Emerald Packs (PS4/XB1/PC) or MyTeam Gold Booster Pack (360/PS3).
Pre-ordering is becoming more of a necessity when it comes to sports games, particularly for those who play the Ultimate Team/MyTeam type modes. So this becomes essentially a new release date rather than a special “early” release.
The “Early Tip-Off” edition of NBA 2K16 has already been made available for pre-order through retailers including Amazon.
The latest roster update for MLB 15: The Show arrived earlier today and with it some significant ratings changes. Look for a breakdown of how Diamond Dynasty has been affected by the update in a new Market Report tomorrow.
Bryce Harper (+4 to 94), Nelson Cruz (+2 to 90), Dee Gordon (+3 to 89), and Shelby Miller (+4 to 87) are the biggest beneficiaries of this week’s update. Those taking taking the biggest hits are Craig Kimbrel (-2 to 94), Troy Tulowitzki (-3 to 93), and Robinson Cano (-2 to 93). Read more

The initial reveal of improvements for Madden NFL 16 largely lacked substance outside of receiver-defender interactions. That was an area of the game desperate for attention but on its own hasn’t been enough to inspire greater anticipation towards the game.
Two polls were posted early in the week to gauge reaction to the feature news along with how penalties should play a role in Madden. The results of both paint a clear picture. Read more
