EA Sports has released a free likeness update for Madden NFL 16 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that delivers new face scans to the game for a great number of players. Last November Madden 15 received a surprise update which affected the likenesses of over 150 players, so there’s precedent there for EA to do this. The timing however makes this one surprising given that the game just came out not even three weeks ago.

Continue on for a look at eight before and after comparison shots, and the full list of 188 players who have been updated which even includes some legends. Read more

For NBA 2K16 they’ll have a third at the desk, as Kenny Smith joins the show. Also new with the upcoming game is that the show will go on the road for playoff games, with in-arena presentation, and it expands to cover halftime and post-game as well!

Despite yesterday’s patch, which cited regression of left tackles in Franchise Mode as having been tuned, problems remain with them in Madden NFL 16. Simmed games appear to be the culprit, with poor to mediocre left tackles giving up an extraordinary number of sacks. Things get more complicated when examining what that means for their ratings.  Read more

  • Deal on Madden NFL 16 today

[Update] After running as the “Deal of the Day” on 9/10 it’s no longer available.

Madden NFL 16 is the highest rated licensed sports game since 2013 and has already gotten better after being patched to fix many of the bugs that had been plaguing it since release.

The deals keep on coming for the game also. After being offered for $50 in the lead-up to its release, Amazon has made it the “Deal of the Day” today with the game being sold for $40 on every system. The price will be available through the end of the day, though there is a limit to their supply so it’s possible one or more versions could run out before then.

This is a fantastic deal considering the game has only been out for two weeks, and there likely won’t be anything better to come along until Black Friday in late November. The next 2 1/2 months of play are probably well worth the $10-15 that would be saved by waiting until then.

  • New overtime rules headline pre-release patch for NHL 16

When EA Sports first stated that the new 3-on-3 rules for overtime would not be included for launch of NHL 16, many fans were understandably disappointed. The rules were not suddenly sprung on the company out of nowhere – they should have been planning ahead for that scenario to take place – and the company didn’t even seem to think it was all that important by saying only that it was something they “would look at” for a post-release update.

Thankfully those who pick up NHL 16 next week, and even those playing on EA Access already, won’t have to wait for overtime to be properly represented in the game. A patch has gone out that makes the change to 3-on-3, and delivers even more in the way of previously unannounced additions and improvements.  Read more

  • 10 hour trial for NHL 16 now available through EA Access on Xbox One

NHL 16 is out now to download as a timed trial with EA Access on Xbox One. Subscribers to the service will get 10 hours of playtime after which it will expire. The timer is ticking down whenever the game is loaded regardless of whether it is being played, menus are being navigated through, or if there is any activity taking place at all. So make sure to exit out and close the application from the Xbox One home screen when not in use.

The 10 hours are there to play whether its all used by Tuesday or not. Given that there is no demo, after last month’s EASHL beta, this acts as the only way to try out the game now before buying. Saves are stored on the hard drive so progress in any of the modes and online records carry over if a full copy is bought. The complete game is available during the trial period.

EA Access was announced last July and is exclusive to the Xbox One. This is the case because Sony has declined to offer the service through PlayStation 4 saying it doesn’t offer enough value, despite being arguably the best value in all of gaming. EA Access includes the “Vault” which offers unlimited play with nearly every game from the company’s catalog this generation, 10% off all digital purchases, and the ability to play games up to five days before they release with a limited timed trial. EA Access is $30 for a full year or $5 month-to-month.

The first patch for Madden NFL 16 is available now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The focus of the update is to fix the numerous bugs that have proved to be detrimental to enjoyment since the game’s release.

The turnaround time on the patch was excellent, considering it’s only been three weeks since the game went out through EA Access, and just over two weeks since it out wide to all. With representatives from EA going as far as to recommend people wait to start their Franchises and the encroachment bug affecting practically every game getting it out quickly was critical.

Issues addressed in the patch include the aforementioned encroachment bug, Franchise in-game ratings boosts, Franchise regression for offensive lineman, Franchise draft class QB Deep Accuracy ratings, and more!  Read more
