2K Sports recently finished revealing the 12 new classic teams for NBA 2K16 which brings the total number of them to 46. All of the new ones are from 2000-2013. There had been only a single team (2001 76ers) that fell in that time period previously.
The additions are the 99-00 Trail Blazers, 99-00 Raptors, 00-01 Lakers, 02-03 Mavericks, 03-04 Pistons, 03-04 Timberwolves, 04-05 Suns, 05-06 Heat, 06-07 Cavaliers, 07-08 Rockets, 07-08 Celtics, and 12-13 Heat.
Check out profiles on all of the teams, including their rosters and what they’re best remembered for, in a piece put together at Sporting News.
The demo for NBA Live 16 is now available to download on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It’s a unique one in that it includes an online component and the ability to create a character that will carry over to the full game should it be purchased.
Featured are six teams to use in standard exhibition games (Bulls, Cavaliers, Clippers, Thunder, Warriors, Wizards) along with tutorial drills, shootaround, and scrimmage. But it’s the Live Pro-Am that takes center stage.
There are two online modes that make up the Pro-Am – Live Run and Summer Circuit – and both are playable in the demo. You can also transfer in a face scan that’s completed with the NBA Live Companion app – Android here and iOS here – but they’re incompatible with lots of devices and not working for many of the people have been able to download it.
After a disappointing update last week that added zero new players despite many that had become eligible since being called up at the beginning of the month, the latest roster for MLB 15: The Show features 36 new players but only five of them are rookies.
New Rookies
Corey Seager, SS, Dodgers (73 Overall, A Potential)
Hector Olivera, 3B, Braves (69 Overall, D Potential)
Colin Rea, SP, Padres (67 Overall, A Potential)
Miguel Almonte, SP, Royals (65 Overall, A Potential)
John Hicks, C, Mariners (64 Overall, B Potential)
Notable ratings movement includes Paul Goldschmidt (-1 to 97), Yoenis Cespedes (+4 to 90), Nolan Arenado (+3 to 90), Johnny Cueto (-3 to 87), Adrian Gonzalez (-3 to 86), Jeurys Familia (+3 to 84), Kyle Seager (+2 to 84), and Drew Storen (-3 to 81).
It’s somewhat disconcerting when any game holds back from showing gameplay footage leading up to release, but in the case of NBA 2K16 there wasn’t much concern over what that meant. The series’ track record and where it was coming from with 2K15 left little reason to doubt that 2K16 would be in excellent shape. Still, it took until just 11 days remained for any footage to go out, with today a huge wave of videos being let loose from a variety of sources.
It’s noteworthy that these videos hold more importance than they would for many other sports games as there will be no demo or beta for 2K16 and Take Two doesn’t have an “EA Access” program of their own. So there is no way to try the game out before committing to a purchase for the 25th. Continue on to check out some of the videos! Read more
MyCareer Mode in NBA 2K16 is written and directed by Spike Lee, and the more adult-nature moved the game’s rating to E10+ as it includes objectionable dialogue, references to suicide, and the death of characters. Today 2K Sports released a trailer for the popular story mode which now is being likened more to a movie than those from the past two editions of the series.
Following footage recorded off-screen at E3, NBA Live 16 went somewhat into hiding and since then has avoided the release of any gameplay footage, knowing that a great deal would ride on the demo anyway. However EA Sports gave out copies of the game at a party on Saturday night – many of which have since ended up on Ebay – and that means footage of the game would inevitably get out no matter whatever efforts EA would take to prevent that from happening.
Already there has been a live stream from Shacknews that managed to avoid getting taken down. The footage includes stretches from standard games and even Pro-Am. Read more
