2K Sports today released a new video that goes over some of the elements being introduced to MyCareer mode in NBA 2K16 besides the general story from Spike Lee.
Included in the trailer is a glimpse of the playable high school and college aspects. Kansas is one of at least 11 universities that have been licensed to appear in the game. The others are believed to be Arizona, Arizona State, Georgetown, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, UConn, Villanova, and Wisconsin.
Other new features detailed include MyCourt (a customizable gym where friends can meet up), how off-days are handled, and a new practice mode.
The roster update following week one of the season is now available for Madden NFL 16 on all consoles. The update is notable for a few reasons, including Tony Romo being made “clutch” and Peyton Manning’s rating dropping to its lowest point since 1999. Read more
2K Sports today revealed the top 10 shooting guards in NBA 2K16 after yesterday unveiling the point guards. The ratings system this year has changed, with the scale now considering a 99 to be the best of all-time. That means ratings in general will appear lower than in the past.
James Harden – Houston Rockets – 92 Overall
Klay Thompson – Golden State Warriors – 87 Overall
Jimmy Butler – Chicago Bulls – 86 Overall
Dwyane Wade – Miami Heat – 86 Overall
Kobe Bryant – Los Angeles Lakers – 85 Overall
DeMar DeRozan – Toronto Raptors – 83 Overall
Wesley Matthews – Dallas Mavericks – 81 Overall
Monta Ellis – Indiana Pacers – 81 Overall
Victor Oladipo – Orlando Magic – 80 Overall
Bradley Beal – Washington Wizards – 80 Overall
Those numbers represent drops of two points for Harden and DeRozan and one point for Butler and Wade (who’s name 2K misspelled in the image). Bryant and Thompson stay at the same ratings they finished 2K15 with. Some of the players have risen though, with Beal going up four points, Matthews up three, and Oladipo and Ellis getting one. Brandon Knight looks to be the player just on the outside of the group after ending 2K15 at 82 but apparently falling below 80.
Last year with NBA Live 15, EA Sports was able to get the series back to a level of respectability. It still lagged far behind the competition in just about every aspect however and question remained on its viability in today’s marketplace.
For NBA Live 16 the company is going all-in with two new online modes, both of which fall under Live Pro-Am, and continued improvement to gameplay. Will that be enough when the rest of the game is essentially unchanged? Read more
2K Sports today revealed the top 10 point guards in NBA 2K16. The ratings system this year has changed, with the scale now considering a 99 to be the best of all-time. That means ratings in general will appear lower than they have in the past.
Stephen Curry – Golden State Warriors – 93 Overall
Chris Paul – Los Angeles Clippers – 90 Overall
Russell Westbrook – Oklahoma City Thunder – 89 Overall
Kyrie Irving – Cleveland Cavaliers – 87 Overall
John Wall – Washington Wizards – 87 Overall
Damian Lillard – Portland Trail Blazers – 86 Overall
Mike Conley – Memphis Grizzlies – 85 Overall
Derrick Rose – Chicago Bulls – 84 Overall
Kyle Lowry – Toronto Raptors – 83 Overall
Jeff Teague – Atlanta Hawks – 83 Overall
Those numbers represent drops of five points for Westbrook, two for Curry, Lowry and Teague, and one for Irving, Rose, and Conley. Paul and Wall come into 2K16 rated the same as they finished 2K15. Lillard is the only one to rise as he has gained a point. Tony Parker just misses out on making the list – he ended 2K15 as an 84 but will likely now be an 82. Westbrook it seems got hit by the NBA Live cover curse.

Aubrey Sitterson, former community manager at THQ and 2K Sports for the WWE franchise, had a bit of a meltdown on Twitter today in discussing the usefulness of forums – something he says he argued to be shut down during his time with those publishers. That later would move on to how consumer feedback is approached and stating that companies put out the products that they do, in the state they do, because they believe people will buy it regardless – and that consumers are not entitled to anything more than that. Read more
FIFA 16 is out now to download as a timed trial with EA Access on Xbox One. Subscribers to the service will get 10 hours of playtime after which it will expire. The timer is ticking down whenever the game is loaded regardless of whether it is being played, menus are being navigated through, or if there is any activity taking place at all. So make sure to exit out and close the application from the Xbox One home screen when not in use.
The 10 hours are there to play whether or not its all used by Tuesday. Saves are stored on the hard drive so progress in any of the modes and online records carry over if a full copy is bought. The complete game is available during the trial period.
EA Access was announced last July and is exclusive to the Xbox One. This is the case because Sony has declined to offer the service through PlayStation 4 saying it doesn’t offer enough value, despite being arguably the best value in all of gaming. EA Access includes the “Vault” which offers unlimited play with nearly every game from the company’s catalog this generation, 10% off all digital purchases, and the ability to play games up to five days before they release with a limited timed trial. EA Access is $30 for a full year or $5 month-to-month.
