Rory McIlroy PGA Tour Oakmont Country Club

An update today to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour has introduced Oakmont Country Club to the game. It’s the fourth and believed to be final course addition to the game.

Introduced in 1903 by designer Henry Fownes, Oakmont Country Club has hosted more combined USGA and PGA championships than any other course in the United States. Oakmont remains perhaps the most difficult course in North America, with 210 deep bunkers (personified by the Church Pews), hard and slick greens that slope away from the player, and tight fairways requiring the utmost precision. Golf Digest ranks Oakmont #5 in its most recent version of America’s Top 100 courses.

Oakmont joins TPC Stadium Course at PGA West, Quail Hollow, and East Lake as the four real-world courses that have been provided through free post-release support. The total in McIlroy PGA Tour now stands at 13. All of them are available in Career Mode and for online play.

  • MLB The Show 16 will have a draft mode of its own in Diamond Dynasty

One of the most popular additions to any sports game last year was Draft Champions in Madden NFL 16. That mode allowed people to creatively craft a team’s roster through a limited draft and then use the team without any lengthy commitment being required. EA Sports followed that up with a similar mode in FIFA 16, known as FUT Draft, though instead of being independent it was contained within Ultimate Team mode.

Now it appears MLB The Show 16 will have its own “draft” mode to be associated with Diamond Dynasty, though it may not be the same as far as online competition being the focus. Details from SCEA are slated for this coming week but some retailers have already spoiled the two new ways to play that will be found in the team-building mode.

    Battle Royale Mode
The ultimate high-stakes Diamond Dynasty experience, this mode challenges users to take a drafted squad through a single-player, online tournament. Each win will bring a new set of rewards closer, but only the best players will stand the Battle Royale test.

    Conquest Mode
This single-player online experience takes your Diamond Dynasty team on the road as you travel through North America en route to becoming America’s most popular team. As you earn fans, strategically move them to hold territories or help take over new territories as you attempt to achieve baseball manifest destiny.

MLB The Show 16 Josh Donaldson cover

The latest stream for MLB The Show 16 has gone through what’s new for Franchise Mode which was first detailed earlier this week. It’s by far the shortest of the streams that have been held by the development team on a particular subject, but probably natural given that the improvements are related to statistics and player morale. One new disappointing note is that none of the changes to Franchise will be found in Online Franchise.  Read more

  • Stephen Curry’s season now trails only peak Michael Jordan for best ever in NBA 2K16

    NBA 2K16 Steph Curry 3 98 Overall

It’s been such a remarkable season for Steph Curry that developers are struggling to find a way to fit what he does into simulation video games and there are no simple solutions for how to deal with him. In NBA 2K16 he reached 99 ratings in both three-point shooting categories earlier this year but even that isn’t close to doing him justice.

Today Curry rose a point to 98 Overall in NBA 2K16. That establishes him to be playing, at this point in time, at a level only exceeded in history by one season (1995-96) from Michael Jordan. That won’t solve the conundrum developers are now facing in regards to the distance and frequency of threes he’s making, but at least further recognizes just how astonishing it is what we’re all witnessing right now.

After getting a much deserved boost in dunk rating recently, Aaron Gordon has moved up even more, and at 97 in Driving Dunk is now the top rated active player in the game having passed by Zach LaVine. Damian Lillard earned another point today to 90 Overall bringing him up a total of three points in the last week.

Other notable movement in a roster update for the game today includes Kawhi Leonard (+1 to 92), Chris Paul (+1 to 91), Anthony Davis (+1 to 91), Kyle Lowry (+1 to 90), Isaiah Thomas (-1 to 85), Jae Crowder (+2 to 82), and Jabari Parker (+3 to 78).
