EA Sports today released a short video on the work that has been done to enhance the presence of head coaches in Madden NFL 17. “This year head coaches will be more dynamic and aware of the action on the field. We’ve added increased fidelity to the Head Coaches on the sideline to allow them to have more of a visual and contextual impact during play and in replays.”
Madden NFL 17 has been on full display at EA Play since Sunday and gameplay videos captured off-screen have started to make their way out. Check out some of those here along with the official trailer and Franchise mode videos. Read more

PES 2017 is founded around the ‘Control Reality’ ethos, elevating the award-winning gameplay to a new level via incredible new control elements and a new standard of visual realism, without sacrificing what made PES successful in the first place – playing a match with your friends. The industry-leading Fox Engine once again powers the series to reach new heights, with KONAMI looking to its focus on first touch, the making and receiving of passes, and AI that adapts to counter the way users play to elevate the game’s acclaimed realism.
Released in 2014, The Golf Club is one of the recent successes from independent studios trying to reach a sports gaming audience. Though somewhat lacking in the overall feature set and absent any licenses the game was well-received for its realistic gameplay, impressive course creator, and admirable post-release support.
Today developer HB Studios announced The Golf Club 2 to have a targeted release in early 2017, along with a debut trailer and feature expectations. Read more

EA Sports promised a “renewed focus on Franchise mode” for Madden NFL 17 and today the company revealed just what improvements and additions have been made. It’s not a reboot of the mode, like with Connected Careers four years ago, but rather a series in refinements to the systems that are in place and the introduction of some long-requested features.
Franchise will include a real-time score ticker, full player editing, practice squads, and more injuries plus allowing for decisions to be made on when to bring players back from them. Improvements have been made across the board to areas like the gameplan process, XP system, progression/regression, confidence, drive goals, and SuperSim.
One big (optional) new addition to the mode is “Play the Moment” which cuts down on the time it takes to complete a full game by only handling certain critical situations such as third downs, when teams reach the red zone, two minute drives, and overtime. There’s also “Big Decisions” which are made in the menus but then tie-in to the presentation within games through commentary mentions and on-screen graphics.
In today’s special episode of the Press Row Podcast, Madden designer John White discusses many of the changes to Franchise mode for this year (34:28) and how they’ll impact the experience of playing the games and through multiple seasons.
