Earlier this week Rocket League developer Psyonix announced a free new mode that features randomized power-ups which will be out in September. Now there are some more details on what’s coming with the big update next month as it’ll also include a new arena and spins put on two of the existing ones. There’s even more that’ll be revealed at a later date.
Available for both Online and Offline Exhibition play, “Octagon” is VR-themed like other Rocket Labs Arenas, but the large, eight-sided walls are what set it apart. Two more variants of classic traditional fields,”Urban Central (Dawn)” and “DFH Stadium (Stormy),” are coming as well. As always, both variants will be included for Online and offline play in Exhibition and Private matches, and the Ranked Playlists as they should be.
The Octagon arena will join the likes of Neo Tokyo, Pillars, Underpass, Double Goal, and Cosmic in the Rocket Labs playlists as post-release additions.
The latest addition to the EA Access Vault on Xbox One is a game that released on the last generation of consoles. While the 2012 reboot of the SSX series struggled with sales it was generally well-received and was supported admirably by the publisher post-release. Thanks to backwards compatibility the game can now be played on Xbox One and for essentially free to those with an active EA Access subscription.
SSX joins the likes of Madden NFL 16, FIFA 16, NHL 16, NBA Live 16, and Rory McIlroy PGA Tour which have all been added to the Vault this year.
EA Access is currently exclusive to Xbox One (and on PC with Origin) given that Sony continues to refuse the service for PS4. For $30 a year or $5 month-to-month, members get unlimited access to the back library of EA games on Xbox One which in addition to all the sports titles include the likes of Battlefield Hardline, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Titanfall. There’s also the 10 hour trials with every EA game that begin five days before release and 10% savings on all digital purchases whether it be the actual games or microtransactions within them.
