In recent years 2K Sports has been ready with roster updates for NBA 2K in advance of and coinciding with the start of the regular season. That wasn’t the case with NBA 2K17 which has yet to receive its first update of the season even now into the fifth day of action.
It appears the ability to release roster updates is begin held up by an issue with the game. 2K has confirmed an upcoming patch should fix the problem and roster updates would then follow as promised. The company has not given an ETA on when to expect the patch but it would be reasonable to expect it to reach both PS4 and Xbox One within the next week or two.
Not having updated rosters, while understandably frustrating in all regards, is especially damaging to modes that are supposed to reflect the day-to-day of the league such as NBA Today and the new ‘Start Today’ for the two franchise modes. The next patch is also expected to try and fix the mass disconnects being experienced in 2K Pro-Am mode. It’s unclear whether the numerous other issues with the mode will also be addressed.
It has now been a full two months since the release of Madden NFL 17. For Ultimate Team mode that time has resulted in considerable content being added and the opportunity to gain an even better understanding of the systems and new promotions in place and how best to suit them to the preferences of each individual. There are so many choices to be made as far as players, ways to play, Chemistry, Sets, and where to invest time.
In getting together with T.J. Lauerman (ThatSportsGamer) we discussed everything to do with MUT this year, from breaking down current rosters and choices with Chemistry, to playing a complete head-to-head game with our teams that once again went down to the wire.
The roster update following week seven of the season is now available in Madden NFL 17. The defensive battle between the Cardinals and Seahawks that ended in a tie was recognized heavily in the update. Earl Thomas, Cliff Avril, K.J. Wright, Chandler Jones, and Tony Jefferson are among the players who see their Overall Rating rise this week.
Other notable movers include Le’Veon Bell (+1 to 95), A.J. Green (+1 to 94), Chris Harris Jr. (+1 to 94), Aqib Talib (+1 to 93), Brandon Graham (+1 to 93), Marshal Yanda (-5 to 92), DeAndre Hopkins (-2 to 92), Josh Norman (-1 to 92), Jimmy Graham (+1 to 91), Geno Atkins (-2 to 91), Jurrell Casey (-2 to 90), Terron Armstead (-4 to 89), Mike Daniels (-2 to 89), Cameron Jordan (-2 to 88), Zach Brown (+2 to 87), Richie Incognito (-3 to 87), Jordy Nelson (-2 to 87), Allen Robinson (-2 to 87), Telvin Smith (+3 to 86), Andy Dalton (+2 to 86), Muhammad Wilkerson (-2 to 86), Anthony Barr (-3 to 83), Zach Miller (+3 to 83), Keanu Neal (+3 to 82), and Davante Adams (+2 to 78). You can view all the ratings changes throughout the league with this new form.
Ken Griffey Jr. will be featured on the cover of MLB The Show 17! Griffey will be available as a playable legend in the game when it releases March 28, 2017.
Destined for greatness, no player entered the Big League with more hype than the first pick of the 1987 MLB draft, and no player entered baseball’s Hall of Fame with a higher percentage of the vote than “The Natural.” A legend both on and off the field, “The Kid” inspired a generation of baseball fans with electric play, a contagious smile, enviable flair, and a swing that’s been imitated but never duplicated for almost three decades. Almost twenty years since his last appearance in a baseball video game, Ken Griffey Jr. returns to the digital diamond as the cover athlete of MLB The Show 17.
The MVP Edition of the game will go for $70 and include 5K Stubs, Gold Season Starter Pack, Sponsor Pack, 10 Standard Packs, limited edition steel book, and PS4 themes for every team in the league. The Hall of Fame Edition will be $100 and include a New Era Hall of Fame Edition hat, LE steel book, Diamond Dynasty Starter Pack, Gold Season Starter Pack, Sponsor Pack, 10 Standard Parks, 11K Stubs, and all the PS4 themes.
Amazon Prime members will as usual get the 20% off making the standard version $48, the MVP Edition $56, and the Hall of Fame Edition $80 when the listings go live.
While an opening day roster update has yet to arrive for NBA 2K17 there are two features tied to the day-to-day of the league that were activated this morning following the first night of action. The returning NBA Today and the new ‘Start Today’ for the franchise modes are now functioning.
‘Start Today’ is the new feature for MyLeague and MyGM which allows for a franchise to begin with real-life league standings and statistics up to the day in question. Someone who would use ‘Start Today’ and choose the Spurs would begin 1-0 with with all the stats from the blowout over the Warriors, and results from the other two games last night would also be represented.
NBA Today, which has been in the series for many years now, provides the full slate of games scheduled for a given day that can be played as exhibitions with the latest accurate lineups (theoretically at least) and real-life statistics. Generally in the past the feature has been available even in the preseason but didn’t begin working in 2K17 until today.
The tenth commentary update for Madden NFL 17 has gone out with the broadcast team of Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis reflecting on the events that took place and storylines that emerged from week seven of the season. Madden will be receiving these real-world commentary updates regularly throughout the year which apply to Play Now and Online games. The duo will also be recording additional audio for modes like Franchise and Ultimate Team.
