The 21st commentary update for Madden NFL 17 has gone out with the broadcast team of Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis reflecting on the events taking place and storylines that have emerged heading into the Conference Championship games. Madden has been receiving these real-world commentary updates regularly throughout the year which apply to Play Now and Online games. The duo has also recorded additional audio for modes like Franchise and Ultimate Team.

One of the most anticipated programs in any Ultimate Team is the introduction of the Team of the Year players as respective seasons near their completion. Today EA Sports rolled out Team of the Year in Madden NFL 17 for the offensive side of the ball (defense will be coming soon) and it involves new highly-rated cards with multiple chemistries, Solo Challenges, packs, and Sets.
Offense: Derek Carr (QB), David Johnson (HB), Ezekiel Elliott (HB), Kyle Juszczyk (FB), Greg Olsen (TE), Kyle Rudolph (TE), Odell Beckham Jr. (WR), Jordy Nelson (WR), Mike Evans (WR), Tyreek Hill (WR), Andrew Whitworth (LT), Richie Incognito (LG), Matt Paradis (C), Marshal Yanda (RG), Jack Conklin (RT)
Defense: Cameron Wake (LE), Brandon Graham (RE), Fletcher Cox (DT), Kawann Short (DT), Khalil Mack (LOLB), Bobby Wagner (MLB), Paul Posluszny (MLB), Sean Lee (ROLB), Janoris Jenkins (CB), Aqib Talib (CB), Chris Harris (CB), Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (CB), Eric Berry (FS), Devin McCourty (FS), Landon Collins (SS), Jonathan Cyprien (SS)
Special Teams:Â Justin Tucker (K), Johnny Hekker (P)
There are currently 10 new Solo Challenges that are only available to complete today, so a new group of them will likely appear tomorrow. Each one gives out a “Moment” card. 40 of the Moments cards turned in for the offense (and eventually defense as well) will award a random Elite Team of the Year player from that side of the ball.
Turning in 16 of the Team of the Week Collectibles that were earned from the weekly challenges throughout the season awards a Team of the Year Item used to get an Elite Team of the Year player. The TOTYÂ Packs go for 50,000 Coins or 500 Points (equivalent of $5) and include 4 Team of the Year Items, 2 Gold or Better Players, 2 Silver or Better Players, and 2 Team Items.

The South Korea Ratings Board recently classified a game called “The Drive to NBA Live” for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This may be the first indication that the new NBA Live promised by EA to be out before April is nearing release, or the translation could be literal as far as it being an introduction in the form of a demo for that upcoming game. In America the Entertainment Software Rating Board has not rated anything new NBA Live.
EA has a strong presence in South Korea with PC games like NBA Street Online and FIFA Online along with a studio dedicated to mobile games. The classification from the ratings board however specifically notes it as being for Xbox One and PS4. The name could be telling too, should EA be planning to release an NBA Live 18 in the fall they would need a title that didn’t attach itself to a year. It’s also possible that the next NBA Live will be more akin to the company’s efforts on mobile which don’t attach themselves to a year or traditional release dates but instead continually update with new content.
NBA Live has consistently been scheduled in as a 4th quarter release (January-March) in EA’s financial briefings. To this point the company has yet to reveal anything at all about the game. In the meantime their focus has remained on NBA Live Mobile.
