For the third consecutive year EA Sports is offering a special digital version of Madden on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to coincide with the Super Bowl. For PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold members the Super Bowl Edition of Madden NFL 17 can be purchased for $19.80 and is only available until the morning of February 7.
The Super Bowl Edition includes the standard game plus five All-Pro Packs for Ultimate Team. Those each feature three Gold or better cards and have a combined equivalent value of $17.50.
This could be a good opportunity for those who own physical copies of the game to sell it or trade it in after picking up this digital version. Doing so should just about recoup the cost of purchasing the Super Bowl Edition or even result in pocketing a few extra dollars.
Of course for anyone with an EA Access subscription on Xbox One it would be wise to wait for the game to be added to the Vault instead. While there has yet to be an announcement on when that’ll happen for Madden NFL 17 it occurred this very day (the Tuesday before the Super Bowl) in 2016 while the year prior it was added in early March.
Another patch has just gone live for NBA 2K17 on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This latest update is the sixth to go out post-release for the game. After over a month with a number of people struggling to even play 2K17 due to getting stuck at the loading screen thankfully that issue is now said to have been fixed. Read more
The latest promo to go live in Madden NFL 17’s Ultimate Team mode coincides with Super Bowl LI. Celebrating the players taking part in Sunday’s game as well as stars from the past, the program features new cards and fresh solos and sets that appear not to expire until early March.
There are 24 new Solo Challenges with 12 of them featuring scenarios against teams from Super Bowl’s past with the other 12 scenarios against the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons modeled off their games from earlier this season. A total of 37,500 Coins, 2 Contract Packs, 2 Gold Super Bowl Player Packs, 2 Super Bowl Past Packs, 2 Super Bowl Present Packs, and 2 Super Bowl Past Elite Packs would be earned by completing all 24 of the challenges.
There are also new Chemistries tied to the program. Super Bowl Past Chemistry requires 6 players and provides +1 to Strength, Agility, Awareness, Carrying, Block Shedding, and Play Recognition. Super Bowl Present Chemistry requires 6 players and provides +1 to Agility, Acceleration, Awareness, Catching, Play Recognition, and Man Coverage. Check out all the Super Bowl Past cards here and the Super Bowl Present cards here.
11 new Sets are now active with the opportunity to trade in four Super Bowl Past Captains (95-rated Russell Wilson, Erik Williams, Bob Sanders, James Harrison) for 97-rated Julio Jones or Malcolm Butler, or 98-rated Marcus Allen or Reggie White. Other sets include the ability to trade in Elite players towards a Past or Present Captain or Gold players towards an Elite player.
Multiple new card packs have been introduced as well. The Super Bowl LI Pack goes for 200 Points or 15,000 Coins (equivalent of $2) and includes a Super Bowl player Gold or Better, 2 Silver players, 3 Bronze players, and 4 other items. Super Bowl Past or Future Packs have a price of 60,000 Coins or 600 Points (equivalent of $6) and include 3 Super Bowl Past/Present players Gold or better, 2 other Gold or better players, 3 Silver players, and 2 other items. Super Bowl Booster Packs are being sold for 500 Points (equivalent of $5) and include an Elite Super Bowl player, 3 Super Bowl Present players Gold or better, and 1 other item.

The rosters for the 2017 NBA All-Star Game were filled out yesterday with the announcement of the reserves and now today the teams have been updated in NBA 2K17. Last week the uniforms were added but even still the game in 2K17 is played in last year’s venue of Toronto. Hopefully that’ll be updated to New Orleans with the 2017 ASG court soon.
Based on the NBA 2K17 player ratings the Western Conference has the stronger roster. The average Overall Rating is 91.4 compared to the Eastern Conference’s 89.1. Reigning back-to-back league MVP Steph Curry is the lowest rated starter on the West and rates out 7th overall on the team. There’s also a pretty considerable mismatch in the way the rosters are constructed considering the East doesn’t have a center on the roster while the West has four of them in Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Marc Gasol, and DeAndre Jordan.
[Update 1/29] Last year’s court has just been replaced with the one for New Orleans.
The roster update making final preparations for the Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons is now available to download in Madden NFL 17. Chris Hogan and Julio Jones both had 9 catches for 180 yards and 2 TDs and were rewarded for those efforts. Jones moved up a point to 98 Overall making him the highest rated receiver in the game while it was 2 points gained by Hogan to push him up to 82 Overall.
Other notable players with ratings changes in the update include Antonio Brown (-1 to 97), Matt Ryan (+3 to 95), Tom Brady (+1 to 95), Dont’a Hightower (-2 to 87), LeGarrette Blount (-1 to 86), Logan Ryan (+1 to 85), Matt Stafford (+1 to 85), Morgan Burnett (-1 to 85), Kirk Cousins (+2 to 84), HaHa Clinton-Dix (-1 to 83), Aaron Ripkowski (-1 to 83), Mohamed Sanu (+2 to 82), Corey Linsley (-3 to 82), and Ryan Tannehill (+1 to 81). Check out all the changes made in the week that followed the Conference Championship games with the form here.
