Last week brought the news that The Golf Club franchise was being rebranded as PGA Tour 2K and now the details on what to expect from the upcoming game in terms of features and release date have rolled out.
PGA Tour 2K21 will come out on August 21 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. For the first time the series will include real golfers with 12 licensed including cover athlete Justin Thomas. These golfers however are not actually playable but act as competitors given the series’ focus on MyPlayers instead. Also new this year is broadcast style presentation with commentary from Luke Elvy and analyst Rich Beem.
PGA TOUR 2K21 is designed for players of all skill levels. Rookies can take advantage of real-time tutorials, tips and shot suggestions, while veterans can master their games with Pro Vision, Distance Control, Putt Preview and other innovations. Social gaming is at the core of the experience, as players can hit the links with friends in local and online matches, including Alt-Shot, Stroke Play, Skins and 4-Player Scramble. In addition, Online Societies will encourage players to invite their squad to hit the clubhouse and run full seasons and tournaments with unique entry rules and requirements, as well as handicap and event settings.
Of course the main concern with any title that comes from 2K Sports is the influence of in-game currency through microtransactions. Thankfully based on the wording in the press release it appears as though purchases will remain solely cosmetic.

The Golf Club originally launched back in 2014 from the independent HB Studios. Follow-ups came in 2017 and the latest in August 2018 that added the PGA Tour license also brought on 2K Sports as the publisher. Now that relationship has taken the next step with the upcoming edition in the series being renamed to PGA Tour 2K21.
Based on what has been shown in the very limited reveal it appears that PGA Tour 2K21 will be out this summer rather than be held to coincide with the (possible) release of the new consoles during the holiday period. Logos for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 were not displayed along with the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The game has since been confirmed for PC as well. The first details are scheduled to be revealed next Thursday.

When the new features for Super Mega Baseball 3 were showcased a few weeks ago they were accompanied by an indication that the game could see a delay due to COVID-19 complications. That has turned out to be the case as what was originally going to release this month has instead been moved back to May 13.
While the wait will be longer than hoped for there is a new video out that goes into the specifics on improvements to gameplay which include reworked batting AI, tweaked pitching mechanics and improved fielder selection. Additionally developer Metalhead Software is teasing features still being worked on such as the previously revealed ability to import teams from Super Mega Baseball 2 and a TBA “major” online feature.
