As discussed previously the Arena Football League is in big trouble and it now looks like the 2009 season may be canceled. However they are now reconsidering the decision to scrap it. Regardless the AFL license that is available after EA Sports decided not to renew won't be appealing to any other companies. Operation Sports is running their year end awards. You can vote for them here. Categories include sports game of the year, best title for each particular sport, and best company ...

An amusing article from ESPN's Jon Robinson details the Chicago Bears and their NBA 2K9 gaming. The alternate jersey code is out for NHL 2K9: R6y34bsH52. No word on the NHL 09 code other than it should be out sometime this month. Joining Facebreaker and a future Punch-Out on the Wii will be Ready 2 Rumble Revolution. Like Punch-Out, Ready 2 Rumble is a name that is looked back on with good memories. While Facebreaker was unable to capture the magic of those two obviously devel...

As some of you may have already noticed I have installed a new comment system. This one seems to work well in both Firefox and IE and has replies show up in threaded form. It also allows registered users to give a "thumbs up"  or "thumbs down" to any particular comment. I'll be looking to find a way to allow for the editing of comments in the near future. I've started back using Twitter so anyone that would like to follow along here is my address. I've also added the last two updat...

One of the things I mentioned in my impressions of Blitz: The League II is the use of Frank Caliendo as an announcer in the campaign mode. Das Gamer has an interesting interview with BTL producer Jacob Beucler that goes discusses the use of Caliendo, Jay Mohr, and some of the other elements that make up what the game is all about. While NBA 2K9's dreadful online play experience continues 2K has explained a few workarounds to a couple online league related gripes. There is one for playing ...

Operation Sports has posted another producer blog for NCAA Basketball 09. This one focuses on the feedback that was received at the community event and changes that have taken place in direct response to it. FIFA 09 was released this last week to overwhelming praise. While it is difficult for me to imagine finding long-term appeal in a soccer game I would've said the same about a hockey game before playing NHL 09. Look for some basic impressions and a write-up on the 10 vs 10 Online...

Nintendo has announced a new Punch-Out coming to the Wii. You can check out screens and the trailer here. This is what Facebreaker should've been but didn't come near achieving. The Wii version of Facebreaker will be releasing next month and apparently has shown some promise but I've been soured on the concept of the game now. I like the thought of the more old school Punch-Out experience. For those who don't buy NBA Live 09 new the purchase of the Live 365 service is apparently sup...

The official release date for NCAA Basketball 09 is Tuesday December 2nd. In addition to finding out there was no Be a Pro mode we now know there is no Online Team Play either. I'm really struggling to find any reason to look forward to this title. Except for the above cheerleader picture that is. Make sure to get your week two selections for the NFL Pigskin Pickem in before the kickoff of the first game Sunday. The second patch for Madden 09 may be out by the end of the week....

2K Sports has announced a new game for the Wii coming out this fall (likely coinciding with the playoffs) called MLB Superstars and will be a collection of mini-games. This follows EA's announcement a few weeks ago of Celebrity Sports Showdown for the Wii which is also a collection of mini-games. Is there more appeal in controlling MLB players or people who could barely qualify as being described as celebs? This just makes me wonder even more though 2K...where is The BIGS 2??? ...
