For years now many fans of the Madden franchise (as well as other EA Sports titles) have felt that the biggest area the game is lacking in is its presentation. This especially came about after NFL 2K5 had the ESPN presentation that so many enjoyed. When EA Sports bought the ESPN license, many fans assumed that it meant they had the same ideas in mind for Madden. However EA has not utilized the ESPN license in that fashion. So if the fans are asking for that style of presentation, why hasn't E...

This guy, Keith Claverie of the Louisiana State University paper. In his article he touches upon the topic of race as it pertains to the Madden cover. He astutely points out that no white player has ever been the cover athlete for the Madden franchise. I wonder how long it took him to find that out on Wikipedia. The article takes an unexpected turn when he starts to infer what that means and goes as far as to use the popular belief in the "cover curse" as a motive behind who EA chooses. Belo...

The news coming out of the May edition of Game Informer magazine has caused a stir on sports gaming message boards over the last couple days. This is mainly due to an overwhelmingly negative reaction to both the content of the article and the tone in which it was presented. Lack of customization Many fans of the series were expecting 2K8 to have the ability to customize the game to their liking. This was practically confirmed in an interview with Gamespot when the game was orig...

Since the Xbox 360's launch and subsequent utilization of the Marketplace there has been a great deal of debate over the subject of downloadable content. What is worthwhile? What is a waste? Are companies holding back on things only to release them later as D.C.? Lets take a look at some of the things that have been offered in sports titles thus far to see how the releases have progressed. Madden 07 downloadable stadium (300 MS points = $3.75): A lot of work went into the stadiums, but i...
