  • 2K’s marketing taking hits left and right

You know its not a good sign when the marketing of a game becomes the most discussed topic about it. Whether it be on the 2K Sports or Operation Sports forums (really the only two places the game is being discussed at all), reading up on All-Pro Football 2K8 you'll find many comments and threads talking about the marketing (or lack thereof). When message boards are overrun with marketing discussion something has gone terribly wrong. If that isn't bad enough, right in the ...
  • Upcoming NBA Live 08 community day

Next week I will be headed out to New York for the NBA Live community event. Amongst other festivities (such as attending the NBA Draft) I will get to spend some a good amount of time playing NBA Live 08. This is a pretty unique opportunity to get significant time in with the game this early in the development cycle. On the positive side of that, it's early enough that feedback could be taken into consideration. Generally community days are held closer to release time and things are...

It was another busy week as the push of info for All-Pro Football 2K8 and NCAA Football 08 continues. APF had some media getting a look at the game and NCAA had the big Community Day event. There was also a stronger Madden presence this week than the one before. For NBA Live 08, EA released a screenshot exclusive to Pastapadre.com and IGN had the first couple gameplay vids. I introduced the PadreCast and had three of them including the latest, an interview with Bangpow from ConsoleSports.net ...

Back with a second go at the PadreCast. This time I talk a lot about the news and current atmosphere surrounding All-Pro Football 2K8. I also shortly mention some news to come out of the NCAA Football 08 Community Day. If you are viewing this from the permalink you won't be able to view the player. You'll need to view the article from the homepage, the PadreCast category, or use the player that is located in the sidebar. You can also download it directly from this link....
  • 2K may have sparked more controversy to come

The first questionable decision from 2K Sports that was sure to cause debate was the inclusion of OJ Simpson in the game. That one made for reasonably balanced discussion and both sides had solid arguments. However the latest thing to come out of All-Pro Football 2K8 really can not be defended. In one of the recent screenshots, a stadium for the team called the Indians was shown. Included in the stadium were tepees on the sidelines and a giant bear wearing face paint. That certainly can be...
  • Disappointment abounds after less than enthusiastic impressions of All-Pro Football 2K8

On Monday, the site allgames.com radio show did a segment on APF 2K8. By late in the evening, the thread at Operation Sports had nearly reached 350 replies. Multiple threads on the 2K forums were created, including ones with different theories and conspiracies about why the game wasn't being touted as the greatest thing ever. The first frustration came from sitting though a multi-hour show that everyone seemed to feel was completely worthless and embarrassingly bad. That likely didn't ...

I have uploaded the first edition of the PadreCast. You can listen to it with the player below, download it from the link provided below, or listen with the player in the sidebar of the site. This is basically just a rough first shot at it. In PadreCast #1 I recap the news of the very busy last week and drop in my thoughts on some of it. In the future the PadreCasts can be much more substantial. That is if people enjoy it or would like for me to continue doing them. If not, it didn't hu...
