Suggestions for the site?
Before the flow of news that will be coming out of E3 hits and before any demos drop, I figured it would be a good time to ask for some feedback on the site and suggestions on things to improve or add. The site has been growing at an extraordinary rate, so I'd really like to hear what everyone would like to see from it. I'm always open to doing things to improve it, and I work towards providing the best collection of news and content out there. But there is always more that can be done/...
Weekly Recap: July 2nd-8th
With E3 coming this week a lot is being held back. NBA Live 08 kept its strong push going though, revealing a handful of new features and I was able to talk about my thoughts on the Hot Spots. NCAA Football and All-Pro Football are to the point where everyone is just waiting on their demos. The Madden Community Day planned for this coming week was changed into an NCAA Football centric event. Chris Paul has been chosen to be the NBA 2K8 cover athlete.
This should be a pretty big week. EA will ...
What to expect from E3
Running July 10th-13th, the revised E3 structure will provide for a different experience this year. It should lead to more detailed coverage from the media sites. Sony/MS/Nintendo and the game developers will be able to relay their messages in a stronger and more focused fashion. On the other hand it will probably mean less in the way of impressions from individuals. The changes to how the event is coordinated will frustrate those who are attending, but for everyone at home it probably isn'...
Padre’s Hands-On Impressions of NBA Live 08’s “Hot Spots”
So now with the first embargo lifted, those of us who attended the NBA Live 08 community event are able to discuss Hot Spots, Own the Paint, and Quick Strike Ball Handling. This write-up will focus on the Hot Spots. As soon as the news on this new feature was revealed I knew that it was going to create some level of backlash. That was reinforced when I first saw it in person. I had a handful of initial concerns. The first is that it dominates the screen when activated. It is ver...
Madden Community Day Update
Last week I wrote about the upcoming Madden Community Day event which was slated for next week. Unfortunately today I was informed that Madden will not be available and it is being turned into an NCAA Football centric event that includes attending the ESPYs. Putting the news about no Madden aside, this is a nice gesture of appreciation to the NCAA Football community and will essentially represent a "kickoff" celebration for the game being less than seven days before its release. The n...
PadreCast #6: The BIGS
This PadreCast focuses on the recent release of The BIGS, the new MLB licensed "arcade" style game from 2K Sports. I give a rundown of the game and go into detail with my impressions of it.
To listen in, you can use the player within the post if you are viewing from the homepage or the baseball or PadreCast category pages. Otherwise you can use the player in the sidebar or download directly from this link....
Upcoming Madden 08 Community Event
Next week brings the annual Madden community event, in which a handful of community leaders get an opportunity to spend time with Madden 08. Unfortunately we will not be joined in person by the producers however we will be given an opportunity to submit any questions to them after. This year it will be taking place in Los Angeles and runs from the 10th-13th with the Madden gameplay session taking place on the 12th. As always, I'm open to taking any suggestions of what to look for ...
