Updating previous stories on the topic of OJ Simpson's involvement in All-Pro Football 2K8, today relatives of murder victim Ron Goldman won a court order to seize any money that Simpson has made from his likeness being included in the game. In their latest bid to collect on the civil judgment, the Goldmans went after any licensing fees, royalties or other compensation Simpson was paid or will be paid for his name and likeness in the new video game, "All-Pro Football 2K8." With the recent debacle that was the complete online experience for NCAA Football 08 came the concern that much of those problems would carry over to Madden 08 as well. Previously I have gone into detail of how numerous aspects of online for NCAA were causing an inordinate level of frustration as well as how reviewers practically ignored those issues. So with the history of EA Sports titles greatly lacking in online options and performance and coming off of the NCAA release it was obv...
  • The mysterious face in Madden 08
    by
    Posted August 5th, 2007 at 10:14 am 26 Comments »
A while back I posted a screen from one of the Madden videos showing a face in the score/info bar (above). This face has been spotted at various times in different videos for the game. No one really had an answer for what it represented. However thanks to "coogrfan" who is a member of several forums we have our first plausible theory. He posted two screens from other videos (which you can view below by clicking the thumbnails) and was able to determine that the fac...

I would like to announce a new addition to the site! Over the last several weeks the most common suggestion I received was to add a forum. Well now the pastapadre forum is up and running! **Picture above represents actual age of many forum posters** Please consider that the forum is still a work in progress. For example you'll see there is no unique skin for it yet. But I figured I would roll it out now anyway. Feel free to register and start posting! The forum will always be more of a supp...

After two weeks, All-Pro Football 2K8 has sold 76,737 copies on the Xbox 360 and 23,618 on the PS3. The drop from week one to two was 59% and it isn't expected to have legs with Madden releasing soon. At a Take Two conference call on Tuesday, they commented on the sales of the game.  Via Kotaku: "We're not terribly pleased and not disappointed. We're watching closely and are going to act pro-actively when Madden comes out. We know we're in competition with them" ...
  • Madden Community Event set for August 9th
    by
    Posted August 2nd, 2007 at 2:57 am 14 Comments »
The Madden 08 Community Event will officially take place August 8-10th at the Tiburon studio in Orlando. The time with the game will be spent on Thursday the 9th as the other two are travel days. For myself that accounts for a big chunk of time considering there couldn't be much further of a flight within the contiguous states than Seattle to Orlando while connecting through California.  As opposed to past community events where there was more significant amount of time before the...

  • Highlight clip contest winner

Congrats to the winner of the NCAA Football 08 highlight clip contest. Clip #2 came through in a narrow victory over #1. The Penn State INT to forced fumble to return for TD was unique enough to beat out the great Miami TD run. He'll have the choice between NBA Street: Homecourt on the PS3 or Def Jam: Icon on the 360. Check back to the site in the near future for another contest! ...
