This year's E3 was a fairly uneventful one for the crop of annual licensed sports games. FIFA 17 had the big announcement of a story mode and description of some gameplay advancements while Madden NFL 17 detailed improvements to Franchise mode. Arguably more interesting were the happenings with the somewhat less traditional sports titles. Ubisoft announced a new mountain sports game called Steep with a trailer and gameplay walkthrough that looks spectacular, the first trailer and f...

EA Sports promised a "renewed focus on Franchise mode" for Madden NFL 17 and today the company revealed just what improvements and additions have been made. It's not a reboot of the mode, like with Connected Careers four years ago, but rather a series in refinements to the systems that are in place and the introduction of some long-requested features. Franchise will include a real-time score ticker, full player editing, practice squads, and more injuries plus allowing for decisions to be ...

The first day of E3 is in the books and it was relatively uneventful, though quite informative, in regards to the upcoming crop of sports games. This year at E3 expectations were tempered as far as the yearly league-licensed games go and there were few deviations from what was anticipated. Madden NFL 16 got a new mode announced, NBA Live 16 made some big promises, and FIFA 16 had one of the longest presentations in recent memory. Meanwhile the oft-rumored, and perpetually teased, Joe Mon...

Microsoft held their 2015 E3 Press Briefing earlier today and unlike some past years it wasn't an eventful one for those with interest in sports games. Electronic Arts, which has its own conference later today, made an appearance but the focus was mostly on EA Access - which definitely deserves more recognition and hopefully awareness will rise because of it.  (more…)...
