  • Big Sale on Three Recent EA Sports Releases: SSX, FIFA Street, and Grand Slam Tennis 2

    In the last month EA Sports relaunched three franchises to mixed results. Those three have now received significant price reductions with SSX and FIFA Street falling to $40 and Grand Slam Tennis 2 down to $30 at Amazon making them much more appealing as potential purchases. SSX (Xbox 360 - PS3) has generally been well received since launching at the end of February. Amazon did originally offer a $10 promo credit with pre-orders so this amounts to an extra $10 shaved off from then. FIFA...

    The SSX reboot from EA Sports faced the difficulty of living up to nostalgic feelings bred from earlier entries in the series while taking advantage of the advanced technology available to in turn justify its full price on the 360 and PS3 with a wider-ranging experience.     The demo for SSX is out now for the Xbox 360 and will be arriving for the PS3 when the store updates this afternoon. Featuring two online and RiderNet enabled events of “Explore” mode along with two tutorials (Skyboarding and Ground) the demo will upload race times, trick scores, and “ghosts” to the servers. The playable character is Zoe and by referring the demo to a friend Mac will be unlocked for use. Leave any thoughts on the demo in the comments!...

    EA Sports has finally announced the demo for SSX which is slated to release on Tuesday February 21st for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. The demo will feature two events of "Explore" mode which will be online and RiderNet enabled as well as two tutorials (Skyboarding and Ground).     Previously EA Sports featured the social aspects of SSX in RiderNet and "Explore" mode - now the focus shifts to the online competitive elements in Global Event and "Geo Tags". The Global Events are essentially constantly ongoing tournaments at each drop point - as well as custom ones to set up for going against friends - while the tags are to be dropped for others to collect with the goal being making it as difficult for them to get to them as possible.  (more…)...
  • SSX Gets Unique Variation of Online Pass

    It's no surprise that next month's release of SSX will carry with it an "online pass" - a code that is given for free inside new copies to access online functionality and which requires those who obtain used copies to pay a fee to access the content in question. Interestingly though EA Sports isn't walling off everything online-related with SSX and everyone will be able to play online. Instead those who doesn't have the "online pass" simply won't be receiving the "credits" that are given ...
