    The latest episode of the Press Row Podcast revealed the Sports Game of the Year winner for 2016 as MLB The Show 16. A panel of nine judges contributed to the voting and The Show appeared on eight of the ballots. This represents the second win for the franchise in the five years of the award being handed out.     The next category to open up for voting in the annual Pastapadre Community Awards is for Best Presentation. This is yet another area that the NBA 2K series has dominated. In fact it has won it all six years and no other game has even come close percentage wise to toppling it.     The third category to open in the annual Pastapadre Community Awards is for Best Career/Story Mode. This is an area of the games that has seen an evolution in recent years from the traditional career mode of playing through seasons as a single player and improving attributes to one that incorporates an expansive narrative.     A number of sports games from independent developers have arrived on the scene recently or are planned to release in the months ahead. The latest to be announced is Surf World Series from Climax Studios. It'll be out in 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.     The 'Road to Cardiff' in PES League begins today exclusive to PlayStation with a massive payout going to the eventual winner of $200,000. Those with the PS4 version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2017, as well as anyone who downloads the free-to-play edition of the game on PS4, can compete in the eSports event that will run all the way through June.     The Blizzard Mountain expansion for Forza Horizon 3 is available now for $20 standalone or included in the Expansion Pass which is currently discounted to $25. Those who purchased the Ultimate Edition of FH3 can get Blizzard Mountain for $10 until the end of the year. The DLC provides the first opportunity to encounter snow, ice, extreme elevations and blizzards in the series. There are eight new vehicles and new events tailored for the conditions.  (more…)...
  • Old Time Hockey to bring the sport back to arcade action in January

    Old Time Hockey was officially announced today by V7 Entertainment, with the retro arcade game inspired by those in the past like NHL 94 and Blades of Steel heading towards a January release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It will be the first arcade-style hockey game for consoles since 2009's 3 on 3 NHL Arcade. The unlicensed take on the sport means "no helmets, crushing hits, bench brawls, and arcade charm."
