EA Sports has sent over 10 new screens from their new arcade boxing title Facebreaker. This now makes for 25 total officially released screens from the game which appears to be headed for an early November release. These screens feature three fighters (Romeo, Ice, and Molotov) that have been seen previously. Below are a couple that you can view the full size images of by clicking the thumbnails. The remaining new screens and all others can be found in the gallery. ...

EA has extended an agreement with Massive to provide in-game advertising for their 360 and PC titles. They originally partnered up in August 2006 and have now tacked on another two years. Tuesday's agreement with Massive is essentially an extension and expansion of a previous one-and-a-half year deal with the New York-based ad firm. With the new global deal, EA said the next two iterations of annual EA Sports franchises such as Madden NFL, NBA Live, NASCAR and NHL will use the Massive in-...

A little over a month ago EA Sports President Peter Moore launched a community based blog. While some were interested in the content that was overshadowed by the fact that the entries were being posted in a forum. Not exactly the most visually appealing way to present it or the most user friendly to interact and leave comments. At various places where the news of the blog being started appeared there turned out to be more discussion over the format than the general idea or content. Thankf...
  • EA Sports moving to server-based online play?

As has been covered here thoroughly, EA Sports (and in actuality all sports game publishers) have struggled to meet even the most basic of expectations with online play. Recent titles out of EA Canada such as NHL, FIFA, and NBA Live 08 have shown some great improvements in both performance and options/modes. To date though the Tiburon titles (Nascar, NCAA Football, Madden) have been extremely disappointing in both areas when evaluating their online play. Lets go ahead and discount the lac...

Recently there were some signs from the Take Two side that suggested they were preparing to be bought out. Today EA reiterated their public offer for the company this time speaking directly to the Take Two shareholders. EA has restated their $26 per share offer and has pleaded directly with the shareholders to accept the deal. The $26 per share was nearly 50% above Take Two's value before the developments were made public. The stock jumped following the news and now sits just under $26 as i...
  • EA Sports planning two new IPs

In a recent interview, EA Sports VP of global marketing Todd Sitrin mentioned that there are two brand new IPs in development in addition to the the previously announced Facebreaker. It is unknown when the remaining new franchises will be revealed. My guesses would fall with the rumored MMA game and an NHL Street (which I actually fished for the level of interest on in early January). EA has shown an eagerness recently to provide accessibility and reach the casual crowd. What do you guys t...

Recently a few new developments have surfaced regarding the potential takeover of Take Two by Electronic Arts. While it has almost seemed to be inevitable, a few more curious events have taken place that seem to be in line with that eventuality. A severance plan has been created in the case of a sale that would protect employees from unjust firings. Now the two biggest shareholding firms have sold off significant portions of their stock and a shareholder lawsuit against Take Two was filed...
  • New Facebreaker Screenshots

EA Sports has released a set of 13 new screenshots from Facebreaker. Thus far the screens that have been released have been relatively basic having shown off only three of the characters in what appears to be a training gym. They have a nice clean look to them and the exaggerated style that is to be expected. Considering how long there is to go until release it's interesting that so many have been made available already. That is in addition to the blog style official website which is worth f...
