All About The New EA Community Blog
Last Friday EA Sports launched their community based blog which kicked off with the first Madden 10 news as well as a great deal of coverage around various events leading up to the Super Bowl. Community Manager Will Kinsler was gracious enough to answer some questions related to what is driving this new initiative at EA.
We go back a ways, but for those people out there who aren't familiar with you introduce yourself and your role at EA Sports.
I'm the community manager for EA SPORTS ...
First Impressions of 3 on 3 NHL Arcade
3 On 3 NHL Arcade hit PSN earlier today and will arrive on XBL next week. I downloaded it and spent some time playing through so I wanted to get some initial impressions up. Going into it I was pretty hopeful considering the enjoyment that arcade hockey games have presented in the past and the very reasonable $9.99 price that comes with a downloadable game.
For an arcade game it has a nice amount of options. Three different difficulty levels, two different camera angles, three different g...
3 on 3 NHL Arcade Out This Week
I don't believe it was ever officially announced, but the release of 3 on 3 NHL Arcade is this week. It'll be out for the 360 on Wednesday (probably early AM) and for the PS3 on Thursday (probably late afternoon). This is a purely downloadable title that can be had from XBL or PSN for 800 MS points/$10.
Update: Well it figures that I would put this up and shortly after find out the game has been delayed for the 360 by a week. It'll be February 11th on XBL. It should still be out on PSN on...
EA Sports Launches Community Blog
In another initiative that is intended to connect fans of the games with the developers EA Sports has launched a community focused blog. You can check it out here. The majority of the updates on the first day were done live from the Madden Bowl in Tampa. In the future it will be used to provide a behind the scenes look at the studios and the people that work on the games along with event coverage and more to come.
EA also used the occasion to announce that the first info for Madden 2010 w...
First Images of FNR4
The recent Game Informer that had some new details on Fight Night Round 4 also included the first screenshots from the game. Someone took the time to transfer them online providing the opportunity for everyone to check them out. They focus on the young Mike Tyson that seems likely to be on the cover of the game.
I've added the images to the screenshot gallery. Even as a launch title for the 360, FNR3 still graphically matches up with with the sports titles being released today. FNR4 may e...
EA Planning More Downloadable Games
In something that won't come as a surprise, EA Sports president Peter Moore confirmed in his latest blog posting that more downloadable games along the lines of 3 on 3 NHL Arcade will be coming down the line. Considering the positive reception to the idea of downloading off the XBL Marketplace and PSN along with the low price of $10 it fits what EA was hoping to do with some of their off-titles. Doing so would have probably benefited other arcade style titles released in the past year and ch...
3 on 3 NHL Arcade Videos
The first two gameplay videos for 3 on 3 NHL Arcade are now out courtesy of Gametrailers. While the release date had previously only been narrowed down to early February they list it as coming Wednesday February 4th. It is uncertain whether it will be out the same day for the 360 and PS3 since PSN generally updates on Thursdays. Hopefully some sort of confirmation on the release date comes soon.
The game definitely looks fun in the way expected. The influence from NHL 09 is noticeable and...
Industry Taking Advantage of Twitter
Over the last couple weeks there has been a surge in the use of Twitter within the gaming industry. Twitter is an insanely popular social networking site that uses short status like messages to keep connected with others. Just recently there was an article listing out many of the users associated with gaming in various PR, development, or community positions. That has now been spun into a website dedicated to keeping track of those users. Since then even more have popped up to take advantage...
