  • Ubisoft Wants To Challenge EA Sports

The CEO of Ubisoft came out yesterday and stated the company will be looking to increase their share of the sports game market this year. Leading up to the end of 2009, Shaun White Snowboarding was a big success for the company selling 2.3 million worldwide. They remain open to the acquisition of development studios in achieving this goal. Pointing to Shaun White Snowboarding isn't exactly a great example of how they would be able to take on EA Sports however. At this point it is difficul...
  • Survey Gives Insight Into EASports.com Plans

A survey was recently posted on EA Sports World and it turns out that it mainly focused on prospective changes coming to EASW and EASports.com. It appears that EASW is going to merge into a new EASports.com and offer a wide array of new features. Some of the most exciting ideas are a video mash-up tool to edit and string together highlight reels uploaded from the games, using Photo Game Face in the creation of your online avatar, and a jersey creator tool that would allow for them (and th...
  • Reviewers Get One Right and One Wrong

The first two sports titles of the year have been released in MLB Front Office Manager and 3 on 3 NHL Arcade. Both have been hit hard by reviewers despite their lower prices. In the case of MLB FOM I had some positive hopes for it and initially liked it but a couple major issues have negated all that and with a patch unlikely there isn't much hope of getting much enjoyment out of the game. On the other hand 3 on 3 NHL Arcade delivers exactly what it promised as a light-hearted fun offering b...
  • EA Has Apparently Settled on the 10 Name

It looks like despite the backlash against naming each title 10 this year the EA Sports lineup will carry that name. Now that the promotion of the titles have begun (the Tiger Woods video and a media event being held today) they won't be changing it. So Tiger Woods 10, NBA Live 10, NCAA Football 10, NCAA Basketball 10, NHL 10, Madden 10, FIFA 10, and Nascar 10 are on the way. It is still baffling to me why the decision was made. No one likes the sound of it, this isn't the 10th iteration ...
  • Tiger Woods Release Moved Up

A new promo video for Tiger Woods 10 on the EA Sports Community Blog reveals that the game is going to release in June and I have since confirmed this is the case. In the past Tiger has released in late August or September. Also the tagline of "Feel the Drama" is now known which could be an indication of a new feature or theme for this year. You can check out the video here and leave your thoughts in the comments. While I'm not sure if the release date change is due to Fight Night Round 4...

FIFA 09 has been a tremendous seller for EA worldwide. The Online Team Play especially was extraordinary and has been credited with the uptick in online activity. Well EA Sports isn't done with FIFA 09 as they have announced that come March 19th a new downloadable game mode will be offered for the PS3 and 360 called Ultimate Team. Collect, trade and play your way to global supremacy by building your ultimate football club from over 4,000 available stars or creating and developing yourself i...
  • Upcoming FNR4 Community Event

EA Sports is hosting a community event for Fight Night Round 4 in just a couple weeks. While I won't be attending the site is being represented by Moz (who I go back with a ways and currently resides in the forum). The event takes place on February 23rd. Given that it is happening about 4 months prior to release of the game it is uncertain what will be open for discussion coming out of it as it may end up being more about feedback than distributing information. Despite that I wanted to po...
  • Further Impressions of 3 On 3 NHL Arcade

I was able to get some more time in with 3 on 3 NHL Arcade and my initial feeling on it stands. This is a fun simple game to play against live opponents that has an element of strategy that isn't frustrating like some arcade style sports titles have attempted to implement. And the online play, though short on options, is providing quite a bit of enjoyment. Power-up wise there are some that are I'm finding to be more advantageous than others. The rocket speed for example is of huge benefit...
