EA Sports has been teasing the development of three new titles but bypassed the chance to make any announcements at E3. That now leads into Electronic Arts' annual 'Summer Showcase' event as the next big opportunity for one or more of those games to be unveiled. The 'Summer Showcase' takes place this coming Thursday and the company has already stated they will be making some big announcements. The event is not EA Sports specific but has been used as a springboard for news on sports games ...

By most accounts Steven Stamkos was an excellent choice as the cover athlete for EA Sports' NHL 12. The one thing many initially overlooked however was his looming status as a free agent. The Tampa Bay Lightning had until today to exclusively negotiate a contract with Stamkos and prevent him from hitting the market. An agreement was not completed and Stamkos is now a restricted free agent. A scenario where Stamkos ends up on another team still seems unlikely but it's possible nonetheless....

Back in January EA Sports was faced with a decision on whether they would make a change to the commentary team in the FIFA series after Andy Gray was fired from Sky Sports after having made sexist comments and related inappropriate actions. Today the company revealed that Alan Smith will join Martin Tyler in the booth for FIFA 12 while avoiding even a mention of the man being replaced. Gray began as an announcer with the FIFA franchise in 1997. The change comes even as EA Sports contin...

Having obtained an internal memo from EA Sports IGN has learned that the company is scouting locations in Austin, Texas for a new studio. Also addressed in the memo is the loss of several developers from the company's Tiburon studio - the news of which was first broken here and has involved the departures of Ian Cummings, Jeremy Strauser, Phil Frazier and several others. That has led to new leadership taking the reigns. "With these departures comes a renewed focus on retention, but also ...
  • Fight Night Champion Second Patch Released

The second patch for Fight Night Champion which was detailed here last week has been pushed live for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. As seems to be the case with everything Fight Night related the initial response has been sharply mixed. Many of the adjustments that had been made through the 'Tuner Updates' had been rolled back and re-worked with the patch. Ironically what was at first said to be a return to original stamina levels is anything but as heavy drain - particularly the additiona...
