    While FIFA 13 had a strong presence at both the Microsoft and EA press conferences it lacked a big splash so it got somewhat overshadowed by Madden's reveals and the news of UFC going to EA Sports.     This has been a day filled with hugely impactful news announcements related to sports games as well as a great of expansion on information for various upcoming titles. This was just the start too as the press conferences only kick off E3 which officially begins tomorrow.   • Microsoft Shows Madden NFL 13 in Demonstration of Xbox SmartGlass

    One big new feature announced by Microsoft today is Xbox SmartGlass which is an app that turns a smartphone or tablet into a second screen to communicate with the Xbox 360. Essentially it's what the Wii U is doing with a dedicated controller however Microsoft is taking advantage of devices that far more people have available to them already.     As expected EA Sports unveiled the Kinect for Xbox 360 integration for Madden NFL 13 and FIFA 13 at the Microsoft press conference this morning.     The excessively long process to determine the cover athlete for NHL 13 – which began in late March and won’t end until June 20 – continues with the tournament now down to two. Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne takes on Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux for the honor. The voting runs through Monday June 4 and can be completed through the official NHL.com page - news on the winner however will be held until the 20th at the 2012 NHL Awards show....
