    The latest sales numbers for North America are in for December and three sports games have made the top 10 not just for the month but for the entire year as well. Madden NFL 13, NBA 2K13, and FIFA 13 have closed out 2012 with strong results that pushed them into place alongside some of the top games in the entire industry.  (more…)...
  • More Feature Details for Tiger Woods 14

    In addition to the Legends of the Majors mode announced yesterday EA Sports has rolled out details on the entire feature set for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14. The game will include all four majors, the introduction of the LPGA, night golfing, online events with up to 24 live competitors, and swing customization. Check out some new screenshots in the FB album and continue on for the full list of features.  (more…)...

    When it was announced that the cover of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 would feature Arnold Palmer along with Woods, that Bobby Jones would be on the cover of the "Historic Edition", and that Jack Nicklaus would be a pre-order exclusive (Best Buy), it was safe to assume that the game would feature some sort of historically-driven mode.     Attempting a reboot of SSX was a daunting task for EA Sports. They faced inevitable backlash due to the inherent nostalgia fans of the series carried - which could naturally have inhibited creativity and use of new technology - and a shrinking base of consumers open to arcade-style games in general. The end result however was the best sports related offering in the first half of 2012. SSX delivered great gameplay, innovation, and superb post-release support. (more…)...

    It's rare for a racing game to emerge from an end-of-year list such as this one. Forza Horizon however delivered such a completely pleasant and enjoyable experience that it couldn't be overlooked. Rich in features and fun factor, and with some incredible scenery and ambiance, it is well deserving of recognition.  (more…)...

    Two high profile lawsuits against Electronic Arts carried into 2012 with one being settled and another steaming ahead towards a trial. Though the former is now filed away and ended up having very little in the way of lasting impact the other threatens the viability of any college sports video games in the future.  (more…)...
  • THQ Bankruptcy Means WWE License Will Likely Soon Need a New Home

    Earlier today THQ declared bankruptcy and the intention to sell off assets to Clearlake Capital Group representing the latest development in what is the gradual demise of the company. While some ongoing projects at THQ have been confirmed to continue development the one property on the most shaky ground considering its licensed status is WWE. Several franchises were named-dropped by THQ president Jason Rubin today as still being on track and WWE was not one of them.  (more…)...

    At one point Madden NFL 12 faced the prospect of releasing while the league was in the midst of an ongoing lockout. Later NBA 2K12 actually did have to deal with the league being locked out for the first two months it would be on the market. The conflict with the NHL though has dragged on even farther with the possibility that no season at all will come about. That certainly has affected NHL 13 and not just in sales (which was up initially and has dropped off since) but in consumer percep...
