    The most discussed topic relating to the next-generation the last few months has been whether Microsoft would debut a new Xbox that required an online connection at all times to function. Initial concerns over used games being blocked completely have subsided but an always-online console became impossible to spin as a positive as rumors surfaced and consumers displayed utter contempt for the idea.  (more…)...
  • First NHL 14 Pre-Order Bonuses Emerge

    Two retailers have posted up the pre-order bonuses for NHL 14. Gamestop and Amazon are the first to make theirs known with others soon to follow. It appears that every retailer will include an incentive tied to Ultimate Team mode which provides 24 gold packs over a 24 week period. Any consumers that get pulled into playing HUT that wouldn't have otherwise, or those who will play for longer due to the packs they'll be getting over several months, represent a net gain for EA and their money...

    In mid-April EA Sports announced the first features for FIFA 14 which primarily related to enhancements to gameplay along with some mentions of work done to Career mode.     EA Sports has released a new trailer for NHL 14 that puts the improved collision physics on full display. Bigger hits and more true-to-life collisions have been made possible by tapping into the same technology that powers the Player Impact Engine in the FIFA series and utilizing a new left stick control scheme.   • Rumors Starting to Make Some Form of EA Exclusivity to Next Xbox Sound Plausible

    When the next Xbox is revealed on May 21 could exclusivity of some extent for upcoming EA games be one of the announcements? When the first rumor of such came back at the end of February most were quick to dismiss it. Since then certain developments have started to make it appear as a real possibility to consider. To date EA has avoided aligning future titles with the PS4 while apparently abandoning the Wii U. Their next-gen emergence will come either at the Microsoft event or at E3. ...
  • No Tiger Woods Game Coming Next Year

    Despite producing one of the best golf games in a long time with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 the series won't have a follow-up next year. Kotaku reports that EA Sports has canned the proposed next iteration of the product for all systems but will continue working towards a next-gen focused Tiger Woods 16.   (more…)...
  • 2K Won’t Have Presence on E3 Show Floor; Nintendo Skips Press Conference

    E3 is now just about six weeks away and companies are beginning to make their plans known. Electronic Arts will be out in full force with the usual press conference on Monday, June 10 at 1PT and on the show floor with sports games including Madden NFL 25, NCAA Football 14, FIFA 14, and NHL 14 (no mention yet of NBA Live 14 or UFC). Two other companies though are approaching things differently this year. 2K Games won't have any presence on the show floor which is a departure from the norm....

    It came as a surprise that Electronic Arts had no presence at the big PS4 announce event back in February. Not only was there no Madden or FIFA to tout but the company sat it out completely. That will likely not be the case with Microsoft's upcoming reveal event - whether rumored exclusivity of some sort is involved or not.  (more…)...
