    One of the selling points made at the original Xbox One reveal was the massive (around $400 million over five years) deal struck between Microsoft and the NFL. Little was discussed outside of Surface tablets being used on the sidelines of games, advertising elsewhere in stadiums, and Fantasy Football integration to be available on the One and 360.   • Top Rated Players in NHL 14

    EA Sports has released a listing of top 50 rated players in NHL 14. Leading the way are Sidney Crosby and Pavel Datsyuk at 95 overall. A Flickr album features images showing the ratings breakdown for each one of the players as well. Remember this year there will be dynamic ratings updates throughout the season with the intention of better keeping up with player performance and streaks.   • Off-Screen FIFA 14 Next-Gen Gameplay Videos

    The first opportunity to see next-gen FIFA 14 in action came with Gamescom last week. The game was running on the Xbox One, considering the partnership between EA and Microsoft those type of arrangements will be the norm in coming years, and a number of off-screen videos were captured. Though never the best way to evaluate a game they do offer a chance to assess the graphics, some of the new tech behind the Ignite Engine, and in general how the games flow.   • FIFA 14 Gets New Features, Next-Gen Trailer, and More News Out of Gamescom

    At EA's Gamescom press conference this morning the company made a number of announcements for FIFA 14. The demo for the 360 and PS3 will arrive on September 10, the mobile version of the game will for the first time be free-to-play, legends are coming to Ultimate Team mode exclusively on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and  Seasons mode will now have co-op play. A new "Living Worlds" trailer for the Xbox One and PS4 version of FIFA 14 also premiered.  (more…)...

  • Demo for NHL 14 Now Available

    The demo for NHL 14 has arrived on the Xbox 360 (can be queued up for download here) and will make it to the PS3 when the store updates this afternoon. Featured in the demo are three modes to play. A standard game with a Stanley Cup rematch limited to the third period, NHL 94 mode with the same two teams, and Hockey Ultimate Team.     Earlier this month Gamestop announced a program which will give consumers who buy Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed IV, and Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Xbox 360 the opportunity to trade those games in for $50 in credit to put towards the same game on the Xbox One once released.     When the NCAA pulled its licensing from college sports video games it became not just a possibility, but a probability, that conferences and individual schools would follow.
