While the big deals won't come around until Black Friday in late November, there are already a few opportunities to grab games that are only a matter of weeks old at considerable discounts. Amazon has several for well under the $60 they were not too long ago and a promotion at Toys "R" Us is worth considering if in the market for more than one EA Sports game. Amazon FIFA 16: $44 on Xbox One or $48 on PlayStation 4 Madden NFL 16: $45 on Xbox One or $49 on PlayStation 4 Pro Evolution ...
  • New overtime rules headline pre-release patch for NHL 16

When EA Sports first stated that the new 3-on-3 rules for overtime would not be included for launch of NHL 16, many fans were understandably disappointed. The rules were not suddenly sprung on the company out of nowhere - they should have been planning ahead for that scenario to take place - and the company didn't even seem to think it was all that important by saying only that it was something they "would look at" for a post-release update. Thankfully those who pick up NHL 16 next week, ...

The timer is ticking down whenever the game is loaded regardless of whether it is being played, menus are being navigated through, or if there is any activity taking place at all. Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane remains the subject of an ongoing rape investigation, putting EA Sports in a tough spot where they had no choice but to make a dramatic change to their promotional plans for NHL 16 even in these late stages as it nears release in just a month. The company today made an announcement on the matter. In light of the ongoing investigation involving Patrick Kane, he will no longer be a spokesperson for the launch of EA Sports NHL 16. He will not appear o...

The EA Sports Hockey League beta for NHL 16 that had been scheduled to end has been extended until Monday morning. Feedback to the beta has already been applied in the form of a gameplay tuner, and the extra few days will allow for more evaluation of the mode in general but also the changes that have now been made. Adjustments to gameplay include tweaking and balancing of the various player classes, faceoff success, goalie play, and much more. (more…)...
  • NHL 16 EASHL beta impressions

The NHL 16 EA Sports Hockey League beta has now been open for a week - and it remains so through tomorrow - providing an unprecedented (for the sports gaming genre) glimpse at the game which isn't due out until mid-September. EASHL was a mode that I found very compelling when it launched in NHL 09, and played heavily that year and a few that followed. However beyond then interest waned as it went largely unchanged and took on a microtransaction slant in the upgrading of player ratings. ...

  • There will not be a demo for NHL 16

Last year, shortly after the launch of EA Access, Madden NFL 15 came and went without a demo. EA claimed it was just a coincidence, that EA Access wouldn't have any impact on demos for future titles. This year however there's been Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, which did not have a demo. Now the company has announced NHL 16 won't have one either.  (more…)...
