NHL 13 Introduces True Performance Skating as Gameplay Revolution
All week EA Sports has been teasing a "gameplay revolution" for NHL 13 that would influence the product to a similar extent as both NHL 07's 'Skill Stick' and NHL 11's 'Real Time Physics". Now the company has revealed the major feature for the game - 'True Performance Skating' - along with a few other additions and enhancements.

Second Feature Teaser for NHL 13
On Monday EA Sports began teasing a "gameplay revolution" for NHL 13 that will ultimately be revealed at the end of the week. Its impact was compared to the 'Skill Stick' that debuted in NHL 07 and now a second teaser trailer brings up the 'Real Time Physics' that were introduced in NHL 11. Based on past developer statements and the focus on skates in both videos the evidence seems to point towards a brand new skating engine. Gameplay Revolution Teased for NHL 13
EA Sports has begun to hype what they are framing as a "gameplay revolution" for NHL 13 that will have an impact the likes of the "Skill Stick" which was introduced in NHL 07. That was really the turning point in the battle against their 2K Sports rival which at the time was the more popular product - and now that series no longer exists. NHL 13 Cover Athlete Competition Advances to First Half of Elite Eight Stage
The excessively long process to determine the cover athlete for NHL 13 – which began in late March and won’t end until June 20 – continues with the tournament now down to the final eight. The excessively long process to determine the cover athlete for NHL 13 - which began in late March and won't end until June 20 - continues as the second half of the Sweet 16 round has opened and will run until May 10.  The 4 matchups available now to vote on are Pavel Datsyuk vs T.J. After a round in which the top 16 in total votes received would move on, and the start which featured dual team representatives facing off for the right to make the field, the NHL 13 cover competition now becomes bracket style as it reaches the Sweet 16. NHL 13 Cover Athlete Competition Advances to Round of 32
The fan voting initiative for the NHL 13 cover has now gone from 60 candidates (origianally 2 from each team) to 32. The 30 winners and 2 "wild cards" are now eligible to receive votes - 16 can be cast on each ballet with up to 10 entries a day being allowed. The top 16 players in terms of total number of votes will move on and then it will become the more traditional bracket style event. This round runs until April 22 and is completed from the NHL.com cover vote page....
