    Gamespot has posted a lengthy gameplay video from NHL 14 featuring the NHL 94 mode that was announced last week. The new mode takes the current day gameplay minus the rules and tacks on '94 style touches such as the blue ice, stars under players, sound effects, and control scheme. Inexplicably however the mode won't be playable online.     Following the recent details on how goaltending has been improved for NHL 14, EA Sports has now provided info on the alterations to AI player positioning in the offensive zone that will affect goal scoring balance.     The 20th anniversary of one of the most revered sports games in history is being recognized with a place in NHL 14. The announcement of NHL 94 Anniversary mode though has brought about mixed reaction. NHL 94 was last featured in NHL 06 and in that case it was the actual original gameplay. In NHL 14 the mode is essentially just layering the old-school presentation over current-day gameplay.     There was never any doubt that NHL 94 would play a role in NHL 14 and today EA Sports revealed details on its place in the game. NHL 94 Anniversary Mode will be included in NHL 14 and combines the current day gameplay engine with the controls, presentation, and lack of rules featured in '94 but unfortunately won't be playable online.  (more…)...
  • Improvements to Goalies in NHL 14

    EA Sports has released details on the work that was put in to improve goaltending for NHL 14. A great deal has been done to both the AI and animations to make goalies smarter, more situationally aware, and able to make some spectacular saves.   • Martin Brodeur Wins NHL 14 Cover Vote

    Though it was seemingly spoiled with signage at E3 today EA Sports announced that New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur won the NHL 14 cover competition which began in April and totaled over 22 million votes. He beat out Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky in the finals. Its the first time a goalie will be on the cover of the series since NHL 97. (more…)...

  • New NHL 14 Trailer Focuses on Fighting

    EA Sports today released the latest trailer for NHL 14 and this one spotlights the Enforcer Engine which utilizes technology from the Fight Night series to create what is said to be the "most authentic and exhilarating hockey fighting experience ever". The fights now feature a third person perspective, physics-based punch targeting, player size differentiation, user-controlled celebrations afterwards, and damage that remains through the entirety of the game.  (more…)...
