EA Making Second Push for Take Two
Recently there were some signs from the Take Two side that suggested they were preparing to be bought out. Today EA reiterated their public offer for the company this time speaking directly to the Take Two shareholders.
EA has restated their $26 per share offer and has pleaded directly with the shareholders to accept the deal. The $26 per share was nearly 50% above Take Two's value before the developments were made public. The stock jumped following the news and now sits just under $26 as i...
EA Sports planning two new IPs
In a recent interview, EA Sports VP of global marketing Todd Sitrin mentioned that there are two brand new IPs in development in addition to the the previously announced Facebreaker. It is unknown when the remaining new franchises will be revealed.
My guesses would fall with the rumored MMA game and an NHL Street (which I actually fished for the level of interest on in early January). EA has shown an eagerness recently to provide accessibility and reach the casual crowd. What do you guys t...
Take Two acquisition update and no APF 2K9?
Recently a few new developments have surfaced regarding the potential takeover of Take Two by Electronic Arts. While it has almost seemed to be inevitable, a few more curious events have taken place that seem to be in line with that eventuality.
A severance plan has been created in the case of a sale that would protect employees from unjust firings. Now the two biggest shareholding firms have sold off significant portions of their stock and a shareholder lawsuit against Take Two was filed...
The possible future of the 2K Sports titles
With the EA purchase of Take Two seeming likely, and sooner rather than later, that brings up the question of what will happen to that which is now known as 2K Sports. After TT decided to drop the College Hoops franchise I took a look at the outlook for the future of the rest of their titles. However given the circumstances this would present a totally different scenario. While we don't know some of the behind the scenes details of these games there is some reasonable expectations that could...
EA makes attempt to purchase Take Two
Just came across the wire. It has been known for a while that Take Two was in financial trouble and that led many to believe EA would be interested in acquiring them. In all likelihood this would signal the end of 2K Sports at least in the way we know their current operations to be. There is now a website eataketwo.com that contains an open letter from EA CEO John Riccitiello. EA will be hosting a conference call tomorrow at 5am PT / 8am ET to discuss in greater detail. More to follow...

How should companies judge a game’s success?
The interview held with Peter Moore has sparked some good discussion and the reaction has been interesting to follow. One of the more frequently commented upon topics is Moore's use of Metacritic as a major basis for considering Madden 08 to be an excellent game. While in some ways it may have been, everyone would agree that there is a lot of room for improvement in the series.
That got me to thinking. I'm of the belief that Metacritic is not the best method for determining how good a gam...
GameShow 1.2 update impressions
The new update to GameShow launched today. If you already have it installed on your computer you'll need to re-download the program from the official website. It'll install over the previous version. The 1.2 update of GameShow runs much lighter than the previous ones which had PC requirements that many had trouble meeting. The updated requirements are below as well as my quick impressions on some of the new features.
- Windows XP (SP2) or Windows Vista
- DirectX 9.0c or later
- 128MB of ava...
