Is Spectator Mode Still Desired?
Over the past few years the idea of a spectator mode has generated a lot of interest. Other games have implemented it successfully though it is difficult to gauge how much it is utilized. The thought with a sports game would be how it would allow you to watch important games between friends, watch league games which could even be for the purpose of scouting, and just jumping in other highly anticipated match-ups.
While playing NHL 09's EASHL it hit me that the game already had a form of s...
EA Sports World & 2K Community
EA Sports World has now been up for over a year. Essentially it is the community hub for the EA Sports games offering features such as video and screenshot uploading and original content. 2K Sports recently launched their own community destination which has some of the same features. Using the two NHL titles (09, 2K9) I wanted to assess EASW and the 2K community site. Continue on to read my thoughts on what both sites offer.

EA and Take Two Break Off Talks
It was announced earlier today that EA is no longer in negotiations to purchase Take Two. This will certainly ease the minds of those into sports games for the time being, however the stock which is currently sitting about $4 less per share than the offer EA had on the table will take another hit tomorrow.
Take Two continues to state that there are others interested in buying them up. Whether that happens or something doesn't eventually materialize there is the potential for more cutbacks...
A Few Upcoming Events
With the recent lull news wise I've been planning ahead for some of the soon to be released games. I should have Facebreaker tomorrow or Friday which will lead into some activities tying into that game and NHL 09 follows shortly thereafter. Here are just some of the things to look forward to. I'll be doing something for NBA 2K9 but am waiting to hear about the unannounced online element before planning it. If you are interested in taking part in any of these feel free to comment and just kee...
Quick Tiger Woods 09 Online Play Thoughts
While I don't yet have the 360 version of Tiger 09 I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the Wii version included the new spin to online with simultaneous play. It just seemed like a feature that would've gotten overlooked as some others have in previous games for the console. I got a chance to play through some and have included a video to show what it looks like. You'll notice I haven't been able to to grasp putting well yet but I wanted to get a demonstration up anyway.
This is ...
Tiger Woods 09 Wii Tutorial
Even through it has only been a short time I've spent with Tiger 09 for the Wii I've been quite impressed with it. From the full feature set including the simultaneous online play to the control response which feels as close to 1:1 as anything the Wii has offered they seem to have delivered a very solid and fun experience. This could actually be the first time I've preferred a Wii version over the 360/PS3 version. There is the balance between the motion controls and mini-games for the Wii ag...
Which Game is Most Anticipated for September?
Facebreaker (9/4): EA Sports Freestyle kicks off with the arcade style fighting game Facebreaker. The biggest appeal may come from the use of Photo Face and the uploading of videos to EA Sports World.
NFL Head Coach (9/4): Though it comes out in standalone form the first week of September, the game was essentially released alongside Madden in the collector's edition. It is getting high praise from those who enjoy the management style that is offered due to the great amount of depth.

EA Releases Awesome New Commercial
This was new to me but all the same I found it very entertaining. A video showing what was dubbed the "Jesus Glitch" from Tiger Woods 08 was posted almost a year ago on Youtube. You can watch that here if you so choose. In promotion for Tiger Woods 09 EA Sports has released a new commercial in response to that video. This is definitely worth a watch!
