Peter Moore Wants To Know WTF?
In his latest blog entry EA Sports president Peter Moore wonders aloud WTF (where the hell is FIFA) when it comes to Eurogamer's top 50 list of 2008. FIFA 09 was left completely off the list despite incredible sales, great reviews, and being held in high esteem with gamers.
For a site like Eurogamer it is curious that a soccer game wouldn't make the list, especially one as highly regarded as FIFA 09 or even PES 09 which remains popular. This is the case especially since Europe is where th...
5000 Votes Are In
It remains clear that the direction EA Sports is supposedly heading with the names for this year's crop of games and beyond is not well liked. Current plans are to label them with 10. Madden 10, NCAA Football 10, NBA Live 10, and so on.
With over 5000 unique visitors having voted 57% have gone for using 2010, while only 7% have chosen 10. It is so disliked that the other two more off-the-wall suggestions of Madden using roman numerals and 20-10 even beat out 10, with them combining for 35...

14) Secondary Mode As An Individual
It began with Campus Legend and has grown to include Superstar, Road to the Show, Be a Pro, and Become a Legend. It has now become expected that games deliver on a secondary mode as they have really caught on with consumers. Expansion has been seen online where Online Team Play has resulted in a huge activity increase in EA Sports games and others are attempting their own online modes as well.

Cover Athlete of the Year
We always hear about the Madden cover curse and to a lesser extent a down or injury plagued season for a player is attributed to a cover he was on. But what about the players that have successful seasons after being on a cover? Last year Chris Paul (NBA 2K8) was probably the top performer amongst the cover athletes. So how is this year's class doing? Vote in the poll for who you believe to be the best cover athlete from 2008.

#4 of 2008: FIFA 09
As I mentioned when it came to Tiger Woods, sometimes a sport has a ceiling for how much enjoyment I can get out of it. That is especially the case with those that I don't follow like golf or in this case soccer. However FIFA 09 had the total package this year. Top notch gameplay, amazing online play, and the secondary mode in the form of Be a Pro.
What Be a Pro and Online Team Play does in a title like FIFA is constrict the scope of the game. For someone like myself that is critical. By ...
Early 2009 Brings New Trio of Releases
Generally the months of January and February are relatively thin when it comes to sports releases. The MLB titles arrive either in the last week of February or the first week of March. Leading up to that there has usually been one or two games released early on in the year. In the past that has ended up as a Street game (NBA, NFL, FIFA).
This year there is more variety being offered. First 2K Sports announced MLB Front Office Manager (January 27th for $39.99). Then EA Sports revealed Nasc...
First Nascar Kart Racing Details
Not long ago I posted about the introduction of Nascar to the Wii. Rather than a sim representation EA Sports decided to go with a Kart theme. While my general feeling that the Wii audience won't be interested in a game with Nascar in the title still stands, we do have some more details on Nascar Kart Racing via ESPN's Jon Robinson which make it sounds as though it could turn out to be a fun game.
So what should you expect? How about Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart dropping oil slicks behind t...
Top 10 Sports Games of the Year
Over the coming weeks I'll be listing out my Top 10 Games of the Year. This won't be a recap of the 10 highest rated games per Metacritic...reviews be damned. However it will be a summary of how I view the them from what has turned out to be one of the best years ever for sports gamers.
Some of the factors of consideration I have gone through are longevity, fun factor, general gameplay, technical achievements, online experience, and innovation. Last year the game that would've taken the t...
