Grand Slam Tennis Site Launches
In addition to unveiling the name for what was previously known as EA Sports Tennis the official website for Grand Slam Tennis has gone live. The game will be one of the first to utilize the Wii Motion Plus, includes all four Grand Slam tournaments, and will be releasing on the Wii (June 16th) before the 360/PS3 receive a version of their own later in the year. More details on the game such as roster of players and cover announcement will be made in the near future.
This is one of the gam...
No Nascar Game This Year
An interview on Sporting News brought into question the plans for EA Sports' Nascar branded titles. Since then First Cuts and ESPN have been able to confirm that there will be no Nascar 10 released. The only Nascar branded game this year will have been Nascar Kart Racing for the Wii.
NASCAR Kart Racing on the Wii is the only NASCAR-licensed videogame that will ship this year from EA SPORTS. Due to the family-friendly atmosphere of NASCAR, we felt that a title developed exclusively for the W...
Tiger and Tennis Will Use Wii Motion Plus
Through an email laying out the plans for an upcoming media event EA has confirmed that both Tiger Woods 10 and their soon to be officially named tennis franchise will be utilizing the Wii Motion Plus. These are the two games that certainly seem most fitting for the 1:1 technology that will come with Motion Plus. The accessory attaches to the bottom of the Wiimote to capture a greater level of movement precision.
Even without the upgrade Tiger has been by far the most successful title for...
Ubisoft Wants To Challenge EA Sports
The CEO of Ubisoft came out yesterday and stated the company will be looking to increase their share of the sports game market this year. Leading up to the end of 2009, Shaun White Snowboarding was a big success for the company selling 2.3 million worldwide. They remain open to the acquisition of development studios in achieving this goal.
Pointing to Shaun White Snowboarding isn't exactly a great example of how they would be able to take on EA Sports however. At this point it is difficul...
Survey Gives Insight Into EASports.com Plans
A survey was recently posted on EA Sports World and it turns out that it mainly focused on prospective changes coming to EASW and EASports.com. It appears that EASW is going to merge into a new EASports.com and offer a wide array of new features.
Some of the most exciting ideas are a video mash-up tool to edit and string together highlight reels uploaded from the games, using Photo Game Face in the creation of your online avatar, and a jersey creator tool that would allow for them (and th...
EA Has Apparently Settled on the 10 Name
It looks like despite the backlash against naming each title 10 this year the EA Sports lineup will carry that name. Now that the promotion of the titles have begun (the Tiger Woods video and a media event being held today) they won't be changing it. So Tiger Woods 10, NBA Live 10, NCAA Football 10, NCAA Basketball 10, NHL 10, Madden 10, FIFA 10, and Nascar 10 are on the way.
It is still baffling to me why the decision was made. No one likes the sound of it, this isn't the 10th iteration ...
Tiger Woods Release Moved Up
A new promo video for Tiger Woods 10 on the EA Sports Community Blog reveals that the game is going to release in June and I have since confirmed this is the case. In the past Tiger has released in late August or September. Also the tagline of "Feel the Drama" is now known which could be an indication of a new feature or theme for this year. You can check out the video here and leave your thoughts in the comments.
While I'm not sure if the release date change is due to Fight Night Round 4...
