Microsoft Reverses Xbox One DRM Policies; No More Used Game Restrictions or Required Online Check-Ins
In a stunning policy reversal Microsoft has announced the Xbox One will no longer feature built-in DRM restrictions and a mandatory check-in online every 24 hours. Ever since the press conferences at E3 last week the company had taken a pounding in the media and with consumers while the PS4 dominated in pre-orders by taking its place as a perceived savior for gamers and the industry as a whole. For The Sports Gamer It’s No Contest – The PS4 Is The One Console To Get
Coming from a general consumer perspective Sony "won" E3 going away with Microsoft crashing and burning. The narrative is really unquestioned at this point. As things stand now the PS4 is the far more desirable platform for gaming consumers and Microsoft is doing, and saying, all the wrong things. Madden Next-Gen to be Fully Featured; EA Didn’t Push DRM to Console Manufacturers
Time to clean up on some of the other news to break since the start of E3 which includes word from Cam Weber that Madden NFL 25 on Xbox One and PS4 will be fully featured and EA denying having placed any pressure on Microsoft or Sony to institute severe DRM restrictions and reiterating they got rid of the Online Pass for unrelated reasons. (more…)...
Readying for Day One of E3 2013
The first offical day of E3 has arrived with the show floor opening up at noon PT for six hours. Sports games readily available to play will be Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, NHL 14, and NCAA Football 14. Behind-closed-doors presentations for next-gen versions of Madden, FIFA, NBA Live 14, and EA Sports UFC are also expected but only FIFA has been confirmed to be playable.

Recapping the Microsoft E3 Press Conference
The press conference today for Microsoft delivered a number of announcements and game reveals with many of them being exclusives. Before getting to the Xbox One the company showed off a redesign for the Xbox 360 that is available beginning today - styled similar to the One and smaller/quieter than the current 360.
