Sports Games Desperately Need Alternative Online Experiences
In a recent Press Row Podcast episode I proposed the idea again that MLB: The Show, which has struggled mightily with online performance and stability since inception, should offer an "Extra Innings" mode online. Rugby 15 Nearing Release However Reviews Suggest Best to Avoid New Series
Though it doesn't have a following in North America there is one sports game due out this month. Rugby 15 is set to release February 24 on PS4, Xbox One, and PS3. Amazon has it listed for $50 (PS4/XB1) and $40 (PS3) but is also including a $10 promotional credit with pre-orders. EA Looking Towards Future of “Free-to-Start” Console Games
EA's stock hit a seven year high yesterday following the report of third quarter fiscal results which highlighted soaring digital revenue. The primary drivers behind that success have been the Ultimate Team modes in sports games and free-to-play mobile games. Three Sports Games Finish in Top Ten Sales for 2014
With NPD reports in for December the entirety of 2014 can be analyzed and three sports games finished in the top ten of sales for the year. The three in question are regulars when rounding up the best-sellers annually. Madden NFL 15 finished as the second biggest seller in 2014. Only Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was able to top it.
