    While the big deals won't come around until Black Friday in late November, there are already a few opportunities to grab games that are only a matter of weeks old at considerable discounts. Amazon has several for well under the $60 they were not too long ago and a promotion at Toys "R" Us is worth considering if in the market for more than one EA Sports game.     Retailers including Amazon, Gamestop, Best Buy, and Target are running a promotion this week where a free copy of NBA 2K16 is being thrown in with many of the previously available Xbox One bundles. The promotion runs through Saturday. Over at Amazon those Xbox One options include the 1TB Madden NFL 16 Bundle and FIFA 16 Bundle for $399 or the 500GB Gears of War Ultimate Edition Bundle and The LEGO Movie Bundle for $349.   • 9th Circuit ruling on O’Bannon complicates potential return of college games

    When Judge Claudia Wilken ruled in favor of the plaintiffs in the Ed O'Bannon vs NCAA class-action lawsuit, there was reason for optimism that college sports video games would be able to return in a few years. That was pending appeals however, and the 9th Circuit today turned in its response, reaffirming that the NCAA violated antitrust laws, but striking down the part where a trust would be set up for players to be paid for the use of their likenesses.  (more…)...
  • PES 2016 tops Madden NFL 16 to become highest rated sports game since 2013

    Earlier this month Madden NFL 16 was able to stake a claim to being the highest rated traditional licensed sports game on Metacritic since 2013. The 84 on Metacritic rose above all others that followed FIFA 14 which had a score of 87/88. Now Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 has taken the title away as the game currently stands at 87 on Metacritic.     Aubrey Sitterson, former community manager at THQ and 2K Sports for the WWE franchise, had a bit of a meltdown on Twitter today in discussing the usefulness of forums - something he says he argued to be shut down during his time with those publishers.     The Supersonic Fury DLC Pack for Rocket League is now available to download on PlayStation 4 and PC. It arrives shortly after the release of the game's second patch which went out on Tuesday. It goes for $3.99 and includes two new cars and new paint types, boosts and wheels.     The demo for Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS3, and 360. It arrives over a month in advance of the game's release, which means it gets to cement a first impression in the minds of consumers, heading into a very busy window where it will be competing with a multitude of games for attention and sales.
