    This year's E3 was a fairly uneventful one for the crop of annual licensed sports games.     Last month Konami revealed the initial set of gameplay-related features for Pro Evolution Soccer 2017. Now to coincide with E3 they've released the first look at the game in the form of a trailer.   • Steep is a new mountain sports game coming this December

    More than one snowboarding game is shooting for release later this year. Joining the previously revealed Infinite Air will be Steep, which was just announced today at Ubisoft's E3 press briefing along with a trailer and gameplay walkthrough.     With fewer sports games than ever before there's an opening for independent developers to have success with creative unlicensed takes on different sports. Dangerous Golf is the latest to enter that space and it comes from the creators of the Burnout series, and borrows the concept behind its popular Crash Mode.     Though it has failed to gain traction with consumers in North America - due to a combination of the entrenched nature of the FIFA series and absence of some licenses - Pro Evolution Soccer has become recognized as the better of the two franchises by reviewers and many fans.
