After a year that saw sales decline massively it appears that EA Sports is putting a big effort into turning things around as today they officially announced Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters. For the first time in franchise history Augusta National and the Masters Tournament will be included. The game will also include a new commentary team, new career mode, "Masters Moments", six other new courses for a total of 16, and more. Also of note is the complete removal of Tiger Woods from the...

Electronic Arts Chief Executive John Riccitiello recently spoke at the Reuters Global Media Summit and one topic of discussion was on Tiger Woods and his relationship with the company. Late last week NPD released the official sales numbers for June. Tiger Woods 11 saw a huge drop-off from what Tiger 10 sold in its first month. Given the numbers that were on hand I estimated that it had fallen in the 40-50% range. It turns out that the situation was even more dire than anticipated. Sales actually dropped 68% year-over-year for all formats combined while the Wii version specifically fell an almost unbelievable 86%. It went from 272K to 38K. The main factor in the plummeting...

Last month it was UFC 2010 Undisputed that came in with an unprecedented 59% year-over-year sales drop for the first month. In June it was the Tiger Woods franchise that experienced a huge sales decline, though the reasoning behind the decrease for both games would be completely different. While we don't have the exact sales number Tiger Woods 11 (Wii) did not chart in the top 10 while last year it placed fourth with 272K. Going by the numbers that have been released for the games in the top 1...

The demo for Tiger Woods 11 is set to arrive for the 360 and PS3 tomorrow (Tuesday May 18th). No word on what the demo will entail just through a post on the official forum it has been learned that it will be available to download tomorrow. (Update) Included the press release that went out this afternoon after the break. The build-up to the Tiger 11 release has been anything but typical with extended periods of silence on the improvements and new features and now a demo arriving even befo...

One of the biggest stories that has carried all the way from November has been Tiger Woods and his relationship with the companies that he has endorsement contracts with. As several have dropped him or limited him in campaigns, a few including EA Sports have stuck by him with full support. With Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online having now advanced out of the beta officially launched, and as the release of Tiger Woods 11 for the consoles and iPhone approaches, EA will be facing questions about the...
  • EA Sports (Not) Suing Over South Park Episode

In an update to a story posted last night EA Sports has contacted me in order to inform that they have no intention to sue over the South Park episode. The source of the story, Daily Informer, was inaccurate with the posting of the information or just flat out made it up. “Reports that EA SPORTS plans to sue the creators of South Park are false.” This certainly makes a lot more sense as I was initially really surprised at the idea they would sue. The show, given the demographi...

In the wake of the season premiere of South Park comes news via Daily Informer that EA Sports is planning to sue the creators of the show, Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
