A word of warning to those considering a purchase of the UEFA EURO 2012 expansion pack - 24 of the 53 nations are unlicensed which means they include fake players and kits. Host nation Ukraine is even among those which have generic replications rather than their true representation. In response to immediate consumer backlash EA Sports provided a statement to Eurogamer: "The inclusion of national teams is negotiated between EA and each national football association, which we need to license ...

The UEFA EURO 2012 expansion pack for FIFA 12 has arrived for the Xbox 360 (queue up the demo or purchase and download here) and PC and will be out for the PS3 when the store updates this afternoon. A patch also has been pushed live however at this time it's unclear if the only function is to prepare the game to receive the DLC or if any enhancements to gameplay or other areas of FIFA 12 accompany it. The EURO add-on goes for $20 and features all 53 teams, 8 stadiums, special challenges i...

While the reaction to UEFA EURO 2012 releasing as an expansion pack to FIFA 12 was overwhelmingly positive one of the downsides to the method of delivery is that the typical gameplay improvements that normally accompany a standalone release would be absent. Though some tweaks could have been made EA Sports has not commented on any so it's probably safe to assume that the gameplay will simply be the same as that of FIFA 12. Here though are some gameplay videos from the $20 DLC add-on provi...

The goal in the single player 'Expedition' is to roll through all 53 nations after starting with a 'Virtual Pro' or any European player to be the captain and then defeating nations to earn better players for the customized team. Continue on to check out the trailer and leave any thoughts in the comments!  (more…)...
  • Reaction to UEFA Becoming FIFA 12 DLC Overwhelmingly Positive

One of the more interesting developments so far this year is EA Sports taking what was a full retail release every four years in UEFA EURO and making it downloadable content for the latest FIFA. At $20 the add-on is immediately more appealing than spending $60 for a full game but as DLC will offer less in the way of content and none of the gameplay improvements that normally would have resided in the product. Based on the results of the poll that went up late last week EA Sports made a de...

Yesterday EA Sports made the official announcement of UEFA EURO 2012. However unlike past releases it will not be a standalone title - instead it arrives on April 24 as $20 downloadable content for FIFA 12. Immediate reaction to the move has seemed generally positive. That appears primarily to be due to the price coming in at $20 as opposed to the $60 it would have been on its own. There's a good chance that consumers who would be interested in UEFA already own FIFA 12 which helps make it...
  • UEFA 2012 Coming In a Matter of Weeks – But Not As a Standalone Title

Given that the UEFA EURO series always releases in spring prior to the official tournament the question of where EA Sports' announcement of the game was considering the late date had arisen. That announcement finally came today and given the news it makes more sense why promotion of the game didn't begin sooner. (more…)...
  • Big Sale on Three Recent EA Sports Releases: SSX, FIFA Street, and Grand Slam Tennis 2

In the last month EA Sports relaunched three franchises to mixed results. Those three have now received significant price reductions with SSX and FIFA Street falling to $40 and Grand Slam Tennis 2 down to $30 at Amazon making them much more appealing as potential purchases. SSX (Xbox 360 - PS3) has generally been well received since launching at the end of February. Amazon did originally offer a $10 promo credit with pre-orders so this amounts to an extra $10 shaved off from then. FIFA...
