Earlier today THQ pushed live the latest stats update for UFC Undisputed 2010. They have exclusively provided the changes that have been made in this latest update breaking down categories that saw increases and decreases for the 23 fighters affected.
Jon "Bones" Jones looks to be the biggest beneficiary having received upgrades almost completely across the board while Sean Sherk takes a hit in the most categories. Despite the loss to Cain Velasquez there is no movement made to Brock Lesnar...
UFC Extends License with THQ Through 2018
THQ has reached an agreement to extend the license to produce official video games for the UFC through 2018. The news comes on the same day that a competitor in EA Sports MMA releases. Surely not a coincidence.
There had been some speculation that UFC might let the current deal expire and explore other options including EA. There were rumblings of dissatisfaction from Dana White based on how THQ handled the last edition of the game and is disappointing sales performance.
This year UFC 20...
UFC Undisputed 2010 Patch #2 Out Now
A second patch for UFC Undisputed 2010 is now available for both the 360 and PS3. This patch is heavy with the online related fixes but early positive impressions are being made based on the gameplay tweaks provided.
With EA Sports MMA scheduled to arrive next week the timing of this patch is certainly curious but likely just a coincidence. The resources put into this update probably wouldn't have been allocated had the series not been pushed off a yearly release cycle. Continue on for the ...
UFC Undisputed 2010 Patch #2 Details
THQ has checked back in regarding the upcoming patch for UFC Undisputed 2010 which originally was targeted to release by the end of the month and now appears won't be out until mid-October. With the next UFC title being pushed back this patch took on more importance, which probably accounts for why more time was spent on creating it. Continu...
Next UFC Game Won’t Arrive Until 2012
THQ has announced the upcoming release schedule for the company's 2012 fiscal year. Of note is that the next UFC game will not be out until January or February of 2012.
Following a botched launch of UFC Undisputed 2010, huge sales slide from the previous year, and consumer discontent towards the product, THQ came out and stated that they were considering moving off the yearly schedule for the series. It was initially expected that any change to the release pattern would follow a UFC 2011 pr...
THQ Tired of Being “Cheated”
Last week we got news that THQ was expanding its version of the "online pass" from its original debut in UFC Undisputed 2010 to the next release from the company WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011. Their games going forward will come with the one-time-use code to access online functionality and for those who don't buy the game new they'll be stuck paying $10 to reach the online features.
This "online pass" tactic appears as though it will be the standard in the future with EA Sports already using it...
Second Patch Coming for UFC 2010
The first patch for UFC Undisputed 2010 was significant but didn't seem to succeed at squashing the wave of disappointment from consumers towards the game which launched with numerous severe issues. Now THQ has announced a second patch is being worked on and targeted for release in September. Some of the things expected for the patch include addressing online mid-match disconnects, fighter attributes being displayed at the online matchup screen, and combat balance in various areas including tr...
THQ May Move Away From Releasing an Annual UFC Game
Recently THQ blamed Red Dead Redemption for the relatively poor sales of UFC Undisputed 2010 when compared to the breakout hit of UFC 2009. Thankfully it now appears that they recognize there was a lot more to why the game faltered than just competition for dollars in the marketplace. While they don't cite the quality of the game being an issue (actually referencing its 85 metacritic) what they seem to have realized is an annual UFC game may not be justifiable.
"We're considering a longer dev...
