EA Sports MMA Fight Card #1
The Fight Cards feature in EA Sports MMA is one of the most impressive online features in any sports game to date. Allowing for up to 10 people to take part through five fights (one at each weight class) the card progresses with all the users involved spectating as it goes from one fight to the next.
Between myself and Jerkfacefave we are looking at holding a Fight Card (possibly multiple if time allows) on Friday nights going forward for as long as the demand is there. The idea is to then ...
EA Sports MMA Hard Drive Evaluation
Continuing with the series of Xbox 360 hard drive installation evaluations I've gone through and compared several areas of EA Sports MMA based on loading times from the disk vs the hard drive. EA Sports MMA now joins the NCAA Football series as the biggest culprits of poor loading times in the sports genre. Some of the wait times are bad enough that they nearly could have caused the game to fail certification.
The worst areas come with loading into saved careers which takes a frustrating 48...
Your Thoughts on EA Sports MMA
Today marked the release of EA Sports MMA, a game which has been in development for over two years and was officially announced at E3 2009. The first handful of reviews that have rolled in have ranged from a low of six to a high of nine with the great majority being quite positive. The career mode and online features are being praised while the controls are much simpler than what has been presented in the UFC product (for better or worse).
I'll be working up impressions over the next few da...
UFC Extends License with THQ Through 2018
THQ has reached an agreement to extend the license to produce official video games for the UFC through 2018. The news comes on the same day that a competitor in EA Sports MMA releases. Surely not a coincidence.
There had been some speculation that UFC might let the current deal expire and explore other options including EA. There were rumblings of dissatisfaction from Dana White based on how THQ handled the last edition of the game and is disappointing sales performance.
This year UFC 20...
EA Sports MMA Live Broadcast Videos
Expectations for EA Sports MMA have been raised ever since the positive reaction to the game and the compelling feature announcements made back at E3. Despite the demo being received well it feels like the game has lost a bit of steam leading up to release however. A few gameplay videos have come out as media outlets have received their copies and are testing out new features such as Live Broadcast.
Continue on for a look at two recent Live Broadcast events. Currently spectating of the Live...
UFC Undisputed 2010 Patch #2 Out Now
A second patch for UFC Undisputed 2010 is now available for both the 360 and PS3. This patch is heavy with the online related fixes but early positive impressions are being made based on the gameplay tweaks provided.
With EA Sports MMA scheduled to arrive next week the timing of this patch is certainly curious but likely just a coincidence. The resources put into this update probably wouldn't have been allocated had the series not been pushed off a yearly release cycle. Continue on for the ...
EA Sports MMA Demo Now Available
The demo for EA Sports MMA is available now for the Xbox 360 and will be out for the PS3 early this evening. The demo features four fighters with heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Bobby Lashley and middleweights Jake Shields and Jason “Mayhem†Miller. I'll be working up impressions with comparisons to what was played at E3, videos, and a Padrecast in the coming days. Until then leave your thoughts on the demo in the comments!...
UFC Undisputed 2010 Patch #2 Details
THQ has checked back in regarding the upcoming patch for UFC Undisputed 2010 which originally was targeted to release by the end of the month and now appears won't be out until mid-October. It is currently being completed with plans to submit to Microsoft and Sony next week. Generally the patch certification process takes around two weeks.
With the next UFC title being pushed back this patch took on more importance, which probably accounts for why more time was spent on creating it. Continu...
