The case that could change the landscape of college athletics, and was the catalyst that led to the cancellation of the NCAA Football series, has come to a conclusion. The decision in Ed O'Bannon v. NCAA is now fully in the hands of U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken who is expected to make the ruling in August. Throughout the trial observers noted the plaintiffs were dominating the proceedings, and that it seemed as though the NCAA was more concerned with cultivating arguments for app...

The official cover art for Madden NFL 15 made its way to retailers yesterday. Putting aside that the cover art is awful - hopefully the petition and lobbying from Sherman to get the entire LOB on the cover will lead to a change - it features front and center Vapor Jet gloves and shoes that still have not been added to the series. Nike took over the license two years ago yet those items have yet to replace the old Reebok equipment. Screenshots and videos have shown that they aren't included t...

In testimony earlier this week in the Ed O'Bannon case vs the NCAA, an Electronic Arts representative expressed the desire the company has to develop college-based video games in the future. Joel Linzner, EVP of Business & Legal, stated EA would be "very interested in acquiring the rights" of players to use in the games. Of course this would require the NCAA to remove most if not all restrictions on the "amateur" status of athletes which is what the class action suit is attempting ...

Though EA Sports has restricted images and recordings of the upcoming games on display at E3 a couple limited Madden NFL 15 videos have now surfaced. One features the first look at extended gameplay footage mixed in with an interview, while the second shows a stage in the new series of extreme mini-games called The Gauntlet. (Update) Unfortunately the latter and other various Instagram video clips of interest have since been pulled down. An extended IGN demo of the game/interview has been...

As expected Madden NFL 15 got a segment during the EA press conference to tout some of its new features. The gameplay shown highlights the perspective in Player Lock on defense, new pass rush abilities, a tackle "cone", enhanced player emotion, and new presentation cameras. The front end of the presentation wasn't captured in time but this includes the meat of it and will be replaced by the complete one when available. • Richard Sherman Selected as Madden NFL 15 Cover Athlete

EA Sports today announced that Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has won the tournament to be the cover athlete for Madden NFL 15 by beating Cam Newton in the finals. Sherman becomes only the second defensive player to grace the cover on his own. Ray Lewis was on Madden 2005 while Troy Polamalu shared the Madden 10 cover with Larry Fitzgerald. Given a focus this year for Madden is on defense, and coming from a team that dominated defensively in winning the Super Bowl, the cho...

In advance of E3 next week, EA Sports has released some additional details on Madden NFL 15 and a new "gameplay" trailer which includes a brief look at some replay footage. As suspected earlier based on retailer listings there is a special edition of the game and it'll be called the "Ultimate Edition". For $70 it includes what is said to be $40 of Ultimate Team content. Combined with the pre-order bonus of $15 of Ultimate Team content, if that is included with the special edition of the g...
