Over the course of the next couple weeks I'll be posting up my power rankings for Madden 08 based on the current NFL team rosters. The first set begins with the bottom five (the weakest teams heading into the season). 32- Buffalo Bills The Bills were a decent team last year, however their off-season has really been a tough one. Losses include Willis McGahee, Nate Clements, and Takeo Spikes. Replacing them with rookies isn't going to get the job done in Madden. They did do a good job of im...
  • Tecmo Bowl making a comeback

At the recent Tecmo "Night Out 07" event, it was revealed that the company is working on a Tecmo Bowl for one of the new consoles. This will be a totally new game, not a port of one from year's past. Which console it will be on remains a mystery. "I can't tell you what platform we're making it for. But I can tell you that it's probably not going to be on the platform that you're expecting... if that makes any sense." Will consumers be open to a new, unlicensed Tecmo Bowl? Or is the attract...
  • Darren McFadden is the highest rated player in NCAA Football 08

Arkansas RB Darren McFadden will be rated a 99 in NCAA Football 08, making him the game's highest rated player. McFadden is the only returning Heisman Trophy candidate (Brady Quinn and Troy Smith moved on to the NFL) where he finished as the runner-up behind Smith. He won the Doak Walker Award for the nation's best running back tallying 15 rushing touchdowns on 1,558 yards as well as adding in 3 TD passes. Receiving the highest rating in NCAA Football 08 was certainly deserved based on McF...
  • A closer look at NCAA Football 08 Campus Legend

Gamespot has posted a hands-on look at NCAA Football 08's Campus Legend mode. The videos of the game that have recently come out have been from Campus Legend so it is giving people a good opportunity to get a feel for it early. Overall it seems to have a lot of potential, especially since it appears significant changes were made to the camera angles that single-handedly killed Madden's Superstar mode. Some things of note from the GS hands-on: (more…)...
  • First video from NCAA Football 08

It appears that the first gameplay video from NCAA Football 08 has made its way out. While it is tagged as being PS3, the icons on the screen show that it is from the Xbox 360 version. The video shows off Campus Legend mode as a QB. Although it seems the default camera is used while the QB has the ball, it drops down closer to the perspective of the player after it is released. It is a relief to see it has improved on the unplayable camera angle from Madden's Superstar mode, and hopefully tha...
  • OJ Simpson in All-Pro Football 2K8

When the list of names for APF 2K8 were released on the official website, one stood out and immediately created a stir. That person would be OJ Simpson. Is it right that someone who was found not guilty criminally but is still heavily suspected of committing double-murder by the majority of the public be featured in the game? Just recently Simpson was asked to leave a restaurant by the owner who simply didn't want him there. The reaction from the rest of the patrons? Applause after he left. T...
  • Applications for Madden Nation Season 3

The third season of the ESPN reality show Madden Nation is now in the process of casting and the application can be found here. This is a show that does a disservice to Madden fans, EA Sports, and gamers in general. The spotlight falls on ego-driven, immature, brash and annoying individuals who will do anything it takes to win games. That includes exposing flaws in Madden and using those advantages to win a videogame contest. Stereotypes confirmed! It's not a test of who is the best at Mad...
  • All-Pro Football 2K8 is still an unknown commodity

Recently there was a media event for APF 2K8, at which it was expected the first glimpses from the game and heavy details on it would be revealed. Ultimately that didn't materialize, as all that was shown was a very short video displaying a few different plays and a question and answer session that didn't really reveal anything that people are really curious about. The most interesting omission from all the media site writeups of the event was reaction to the video. No one actually mentioned ...
